Traveling Buddies Goes to Kalanggaman Island

Don't let the summer ends without having a taste of some beach lovin'. Let the sun kiss you and the waves splash on you. Summer vacation can't be complete without traveling with your best buddy. So pack up and join us as we go to Kalanggaman Island.

The fun never stops

If you have visited my blog you must have read my Malapascua trip. Manong Bobby the guy who helped us recommended us to go to kalanggaman island. Since we all haven't been there, there is no reason to say no for an opportunity. We decided to go to the island the next day of our arrival at Malapascua. At exactly 5 am we have to go since it's a 2 HR travel to the island.

Where is Kalanggaman Island?

Kalanggaman Island is located at Leyte exactly at Palompon Leyte. It is an hour travel from the City proper of Palompon and a two Hour travel from Maya Daan Bantayan.

In going to the island it is advisable to bring all the necessities like food and water. The island doesn't have a resort yet. So to those people who wish to go there bring tents and stay over night. In the middle part of the island there are trees that gives shade to the tourist but in going to the tip of the island you can't find any tree. You have to walk going to the tip of the island since the pumpboat stay in the safe area.

This island did not fail me. It exceeded my expectation. Definitely the best of all the place I've visited so far. Truly a paradise, a place I've seen only in pictures or TV. It's definitely not a wallpaper anymore. A place worth of a hundred pictures or even more. And it deserves to have a lot of poses from me.

If you wish to go to the island from Malapascua you can go there and join groups, it cost $16 or 800 pesos for a lunch and a trip to Kalanggaman back and forth. There are also water sports to enjoy in the island. Like jet ski, kayaking and riding in banana boat. We tried the banana boat for $2 or 100 pesos each.

The kids were so excited since it was their first time, I was my first time too so as my husband. I was a bit nervous thinking that we might fall, I couldn't imagine what to do if that happens having the kids with me. But I will not spoil the fun. Before we started there was a short briefing on what to do in case the banana boat flips. They discussed the safest thing to do and attached the life vest well.

We only had a few decent shots of that experience but the thrill I felt and the fun I had will be remembered forever. I know for sure my kids will talk about their experience throughout the day. Riding the banana boat did not scare me much but what scared me was the thought of being in the deep part of the sea. We don't know right sharks usually appears in this areas in movies.haha But nothing to worry it was safe and enjoyable.

Some of us just went swimming beside the boat, it was already a bit deep in that area. In going to the island we asked Manong Bobby to help us find food in Malapascua, but since we were not so familiar of the place he was the one who bought us food and he and his wife cooked them for us. For $2 or 100 pesos we had the best grilled fish, pork and dried fish for lunch and of course lots of rice.

We didn't bring soft drinks since we thought of our health but it was too hot so a glass of coke won't hurt. Coca Cola in the island was a bit expensive than in the mainland. For $2 you get a 1.5 litter of coke that is 100 pesos compared to a 60 pesos price in the mainland. Ice is the most sellable product in the island since we all want to quench that thirst.

After eating at exactly 11 am we decided to go back since we wanted to go back to Cebu early. It will be a 6 HR trip from Kalanggaman to Cebu. Now it's back to reality, goodbye paradise. I hope to see more of your beauty soon. It's almost time to be back to work and we wont have the chance to travel again but the important thing is we work hard and reward ourselves after.

The world is created beautifully to be seen and appreciated. Foreign travel far just to be in the Philippines. And because of that I am proud to be a Filipino.
