The Calm Before the Storm. (Steemitbloggers Contest)
It’s 22:00hrs on a runway in Nevada in the new F-35 Lightning B. Hank is my partner . For once he is quiet. We are still in shock! The whole world is. We received news off the president over a month ago. Civilians over a week ago. They were coming. 20,000 UFO’s picked up by NASA over a year ago. No wonder world leaders have been quiet these past months. 3 months ago all United States pilots were retrained in advanced evasive mannouvers. Our counterparts in Russia and Europe the same. We are expecting a fight! They break through our atmosphere in 10 minutes. The TV satellites and phones are already down. It is actually happening! I look down at a photo of my wife and our two kids. Afghanistan and Iraq were high risk. This one is different. We have never been the hunted before. I’m thinking the worst. They are hardly coming for the party. Not that many. And seen that they are coming to us , their technology is a whole lot better. Musk is still trying to get us to Mars so we are worried. Very worried.

They got lucky in Independence Day. Whatever happens, in 10 minutes, the world changes forever and it’s not gonna be for the better.
He was right! At best District 9. At worse War of the Worlds! We receive notification from central command that entry into our atmosphere was T minus 3 minutes. We got cleared for take off. Fully loaded. We’ve never flew blind like this before. Final checks done and we took off fast. We were to head west to meet & greet. We were to await instructions.
I’ve never seen so many fighter jets in my life. All in a holding pattern. And all quiet. Game faces on. T minus 1 minute. Central command issued coordinates and we changed our flight path. T minus 10 seconds. The atmosphere was shimmering. Something was approaching and then we saw them. Different kind of ships. Unbelievable sight!
Maybe their planet is in trouble, maybe they were here before. Mayb....... and then they fired!!
