Rotisserie Chicken

In this week's episode of BraaiBoy TV I focus on another cool feature of the Chad-O-Chef Hybrid braai... its Rotisserie adapter. Being able to choose to braai on either gas, charcoal or wood already makes the Hybrid the coolest braai ever. Add the dome and you can (among other things) make pizza (see my Braai Pizza post for example), and then with the rotisserie accessory one is able to do roasts.

The venue for this episode was the exclusive Leribisi Lodge in Pretoria East. The name “LERIBISI” comes from the Northern Sotho word that means “OWL”. So... In keeping with this theme, I decided to put an owl onto the rotisserie... KIDDING! I put the rotisserie to the test by making a roast chicken.

Chicken Rub Recipe

  • olive oil
  • 4 tsps salt
  • 2 tsps paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp fine black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
    P.S. Remember lemon & onion for stuffing inside the chicken

That looks delicious, I have used onion but never thought of adding the lemon like that.

Lemon peel grated with herbs I place under the skin on the breast, salt and spices on the outside, one onion inside as stuffing or a bread crumb stuffing @braaiboy

A recipe I found interesting here in Steemit, pork mince used as the stuffing, never tried that, could make for an interesting variation.

hmmmmmm... Haven't seen or ever thought of trying that before... I'll have to give it a bash.

Same here! Pork (and especially neck) is a very underrated meat.

Re Lamb: Yeah... It's crazy at the moment... seeing less and less lamb on the spitbraai requests... More people opting for pork spitbraais instead.
