Who said that emotions are only for the heart and are not associated with learning?

Human beings become accustomed to so many "limiting" beliefs that when we think of "emotions" only the best known come to mind: happiness, fear and anger, with their derivatives (surprise, disgust, repentance, just like some scholars point out).

For this reason, we act firmly convinced that emotions are things of the heart and therefore are the result of our way of reacting to certain situations that we live throughout our lives. A happy and confident person can perfectly sing and dedicate the song "All you need is love" The Beatles to their peers ... o por el contrario que no digan nada si tenemos mal humor

How wrong we are if we think that everything gets there

The truth of the matter is that our emotions are NOT a thing of that muscle that beats in our chest, but of a part of our brain that is known as "limbic brain or emotional brain ¿Not surprising?

The limbic brain is part of the trilogy that makes up the so-called "triune brain", Yes! Yes! Surely you've heard it before, but nevertheless this kind of terms tend to confuse those who do not show so much interest in delving into the subject. For this reason I will explain it in a simple way:

Our brain, unique and exclusive, that powerful machine that God has given us and that is in the upper part of our body is made up of several parts all necessary, since they perform different functions, that is why we have two cerebral hemispheres ( right and left) that endow us with certain characteristics of our personality depending on the predominance we have towards one of these sides.

Likewise, within the hemispheres of finds the part

neocortex
to which are attributed all the intellectual functions that can develop the human being: analysis, logic, creativity, reasoning among others (distributed in the two cerebral hemispheres). Next to this area and with more depth we will find the
limbic
part of the brain that is directly linked with the emotions that we can feel, to finally reach a last part that connects us with our animal, instinctive and survival side called
reptilian brain
. Well, the sum of these three parts is called "triune brain" as shown in the following image:

And then, what place do we give to emotions and learning?

If you have followed the rhythm and have understood what I have wanted to explain so far, you will understand that our emotions occur in the limbic part of our brain, that we can react in different ways (depending on the emotion they make us feel), but what So far I have not told you is that:

No learning occurs if an emotion has not been generated before

Notice then the importance of making us aware of our emotions and how they in turn influence the physical body, that is why when we feel intimidated, nervous, anxious, insecure by the dreaded professor of statistics or the difficult problems of math, our stomach contracts, our gut resounds, our hands sweat and learning is blocked by this pile of emotions.

What should we do then with this emotion-learning connection?

It is simple and the most beautiful thing is that we can reach the same conclusion regardless of the point of view that is seen: either from the perspective of the teacher or the student and this conclusion is simply "to become aware of the influence of emotions in the learning", for this:

*Teacher! if you want to eliminate the fear of the students associated with a subject, offer it in a more warm and human way.
*Student! if you want to get more learning and higher grades start with the best of dispositions and enjoy the adventure of learning.

From now on, when you decide to learn new things, just keep in mind that the emotions generated by your limbic brain must be the best to obtain the knowledge you are looking for, likewise if you must have a facilitator between that knowledge and you, do not discourage if the emotions are not the most successful, in the end when you have desires to learn something the intention, perseverance and willpower are key tools to achieve it.

You have my deepest respect for sharing this. I also believe that this is something that shapes how children (and adults) decide what they like and what they don't like. I have experimented lately with this approach and "serious gaming": Asked a compulsive Minecraft playing girl to play a city building managerial simulator game by carefully analyzing how I present it to her. Not only the game was liked, but she actually asked me for insight as to how to fix some of the problems in the game half an hour later.

The article about gaming is here. You might like it!

PS: Check your account description in English as it's cropped. Condense it a bit so it makes sense in both languages :P

I was very happy with your comment, not only do you give constructive advice that helps me grow, but also share with me a game that will surely delight my children who play Minecraft.
Thank you very much for your good advice, I am always open to learn and improve more.

:-)

I am sure that it will also delight you! Especially since you are living in Venezuela where the leaders surely didn't play any managerial simulators :)
Don't worry, it seems very few leaders in the world did!

Also, use Discord if you don't already. Join SteemSTEM there and we can also talk more about account growth.

hahahahaha that is correct. That is why we must put faith and enthusiasm to this new generation of children
Thank you! Thank you jajajajaja.

Your publication is interesting. please, can you mention some sources of information that helped you with the investigation of your topic? It will serve to support the end of the publication.

I understand what you say, the conclusions of my post are the product of my experience in the classroom, I will gladly complement the bibliographical references that served as the basis.
Thank you :-)

Conclusions and sources are also liked by SteemSTEM, and Curie :)

Excelent work,! Congratulations, i agree with everything, because in my experience in the classroom the learning is part of all, emotions, corporal expresions and humanity.

@therealwolf 's created platform smartsteem scammed my post this morning (mothersday) that was supposed to be for an Abused Childrens Charity. Dude literally stole from abused children that don't have mothers ... on mothersday.
