Grammar worksheet for kids
We will do revision on conjunctions and then if you understand it you can continue to your test on the work we have previously done on nouns, adjectives and homophones.
Conjunctions
These are words that join sentences. You will put the conjunction in between the two sentences.
Example - The earth is bright. The earth is beautiful (and)
Answer - The earth is bright and beautiful (Note that we do not have to write 'the earth' twice, since we are speaking about it in both sentences.
Choose one of the conjunctions and join the two sentences:
- I must close the tap when brushing my teeth. It will save water (and/because)
- The earth fill up with rubbish. We don't recycle more (and/if)
- We can walk to school. We will rather cycle to school. (but/and)
- We can shower instead of bath. We can also collect the rainwater to use in our garden. (and/if)
- We should look after Earth. It is the only one we have. (because/and)
You are now going to write a test. What does it mean to write a test?
- Your knowledge (what you know and understand) will be tested.
- you will have to concentrate and continue the test until you are done
- you may not look in your book or on previous work for help - you are suppose to know this
Choose the correct homophone
- Many see/sea creatures die/dye when there is an oil spill in the ocean.
- You must not waist/waste water.
- We need/knead to recycle as much as we can.
- I love my aunt/aren't
- I like to play in the sand on the beech/beach
Choose which word is a noun and which one is an adjective
- busy bee
- clever girl
- beautiful lady
- empty cans and glasses
- speckled frogs
Write 5 of your own sentences - in each one you must have a noun, verb and adjective.
