SteemitCourses: Bringing Learning & Courses To Steemit & Our First Assignment

in #steemiteducation6 years ago

Steemit has been like a empty piece of paper that allows you to do many things. You could open up a bank on Steemit or maybe even a service. On the other hand, you could also make an online learning platform with the use of Steemit!

What Is SteemitCourses?

SteemitCourses is a platform that aims to bring as many courses as possible to Steemit. Through Steemit, any content can be rewarded and reward is a strong motivator when it comes to learning something. SteemitCourses will be conducted with the use of task based learning. In other words, there will be minimum lectures but tasks to complete in order to aid in the learning of the student. The goal here is to learn through doing and not learn through a lecture. Furthermore, all assignments are in the form of a post. This means that those who complete their homework would be rewarded not just by the tutor but the community as well.

In the case of SteemitCourses, the rewards will also be given in the form of upvotes and resteem. However, I am sure knowledge is the greatest reward of all, no😉? As a teacher, I have seen how motivation goes a long way when it comes to encouraging learning. This can be in the form of a high grade or even just a word of encouragement. In the case of SteemitCourses, getting rewarded for learning is in my opinion, the most awesome way to learn.

For now, SteemitCourses only has a photography and writing course. Hopefully, we will be able to launch more courses in the future. Furthermore, we also aim to iron out any kinks that can may be found through SteemitCoruses' implementation.

Current Progress Thus Far

This week marks the first week of SteemitCourses and the tutors and students are being notified. Thus far, These are the current list of tutors who are assigned:

Please show some of these tutors some support and love by visiting their blogs. Also, please help cheer the students on as well! Lets cheer both tutors and students on as they teach and learn.

First Writing Assignment

The first assignment for the writing course is simple. You will be required to write a post on how you plan to change your community through Steemit.

Feel free to write anything you want for this assignment. However, since this is an assignment and you need a list of guidelines, here are a few:
i) Your post should not be less than 500 words.
ii) Posts should be written with a minimum of three pictures.
iii) Subtopics should be present to help the readers read your post.
iv) You are encouraged to incorporate some local 'flavor' in your post. In other words, try to incorporate something that is unique to your culture.

Happy writing and oh, this assignment will be guided and the marks don't matter. After all, we are all here to learn. As for the photography assignment, @orangila will be giving out his first photography assignment soon.

Why Should This Matter?

SteemitCourses has two objectives. First, we aim to make Steemit THE place of learning. In time, with more courses, SteemitCourses could benefit not just Steemians but schools and possibly even university projects. As a teacher and teacher trainer, I hope to see my students learning from Steemit one day, getting rewards from the essays and homework that they complete. Second, Steemit is a community and so is SteemitCourses and in every community, we help each other do better and achieve more, that in my opinion is what makes Steemit awesome.

Thus, if you are reading this, I do hope that you would support the tutors and the students. We welcome any form of support, either in the form of upvotes, resteems, comments or constructive feedback. Lets make Steemit more than just a social media platform, but a platform where we can all learn from each other. All the best in your first assignment and Steem On!

Support Steemiteducation as well as all the tutors here so that we can make Steemit a place where everyone can post quality posts. Let us overtake Khan academy and udemy.

We also appreciate any constructive comments. You can also contact me @alvinauh personally on discord if you have any suggestions or ideas.

This is a great initiative. Awesome idea!

Thanks, appreciate it!

This means that those who complete their homework would be rewarded not just by the tutor but the community as well.

With this, the amount of students willing to complete their homework will increase by a lot!

This idea is very cool mate, I hope this project can find success with time!

wow.. i agree steemit is a blank paper or like a white board, and the very ground it stands on is the blockchain. Applaud. not everyone in steemit are cypto gurus but hopefully yr project encourages that too. All the best!

Thanks so much! yeah, hopefully we get to have a nice niche and group of people onboard

This is very helpful specially to someone like me who are having a hard time in thinking what to post and the fact that most of us are using English which I know in myself that I'm not so fluent.

I know what to do.. I am driving to Penang soon and will come up with something hopefully by this week... thanks~!

excellent initiative you are doing for the steemit community, these activities are essential to keep growing.

This is very cool. Thanks for accepting me.

EDITED: Please, the username @maxrab, who is supposed to be my tutor, doesn't exist on steemit.

I didn't see that! My name is @marxrab. The "r" is missing.
