Being at school is preferable to being at home, a teenager with lots of problems...... (Part One)

For this teenager home was not a happy safe place, it had never been. Her stepfather did horrible things to her and her mother was always angry and hitting her. The teenager was one of 5 children and it was occurring to all of them. Her stepfather was mean giving a little bit of money to her mother for grocery shopping. The teenager could see that her mother did the best she could feeding everyone but it was never enough. She was as abused and controlled as were her children

But the teenager could not change her environment, she did not know how. She lived in her own little world hiding away in small places like under the house imagining a happier loving life. Around her she would visualise white flowers like 'baby breath.' These were the times she felt safest.

When the teenager first went to school she found from grade one on that she could not learn very well, her mind would not work and she always felt very dumb. She did not feel that she was as good as the other children, not worth very much at all. She never made friends, it was best she didn't.

School was a time of escape like loosing herself in the clouds. So instead of working this teenager looked out of the classroom window visualising animals in the clouds.



There were some cruel uncaring teacher like the one in her grade 10 year. This teacher had a chair in the corner of the room called the "The Big Black Dog" when students were in trouble. The teenager used to go there quite often because she was never on task doing the work. But, this teenager did not care because it was better than being at home.

The teenager never told anyone about her home, not even the nice teachers, she dare not trust that another adult would be really able to help. She kept the secret inside her as did her brothers and sisters. She was scared that her stepfather would hurt her even more.
