Friends - Information and activities for little ones
Having a friend is a very special feeling. It makes us happy and we always have somebody to play with and share things with.
It is very important that you are a good friend if you want somebody to be a friend to you. You need to be caring and listen if they speak to you or need something.
You cannot expect them to only be there for you or do what you want, you need to take them in account as well.
Some people do not have a lot of friends and that is okay. It is not about how many friends you have, it is more important that the friends you do have are true friends.
It is also very important that you be your own friend. You need to be kind to yourself and take care of yourself. We cannot care for other people if we are not happy with ourselves.
What is friendship? Spending time together. Sharing ideas and treats. Having fun. Respecting each other's differences. Loyalty, sticking up for each other. Caring for each other's safety and well being. Both of you working on the skills to keep your friendship going.
- First you will watch the video on friendship and Franklin learning that being too bossy is not a characteristic of a good friend.
Get ready for some thinking and writing
- Think about the characteristics of you best friend. Think about things like he/she is friendly and caring and neat.
- Draw a table where you write down the things you like about your friend and also give an explanation on why you say that about her/him and give examples where you have experienced those characteristics.
- After you are done with the table, write full sentences about your friend. Use adjectives to describe your friend.
- Check your spelling
- You are going to make a card for your friend thanking him/her for your friendship and why you appreciate it. You can watch the video for ideas or use your own, but make sure to put in some effort.
