Children - especially urban children - are today often extremely alienated from nature. They know many animals, plants and natural landscape forms exclusively from picture books or from the television. It is so important that children know and respect their habitat. Only in this way can a careful handling of nature arise.

We humans are part of nature and should be able to understand ourselves as such. But that hardly learns children who are largely isolated from the natural spaces. It has now been scientifically proven that staying in and dealing with nature is very important for brain and emotional development. Therefore, parents should ensure that your child can build a true relationship with nature.

In the controlled play and living environment, in which many parents protect their children so protective today, such sensory experiences are rare. Everything is going according to plan, there are at best surprises in virtual reality: in the next level of the PC game, in the new episode of the animated cartoon.

Children on natural withdrawal

If nature is missing in the life of a child, emotional and physical disturbances accumulate. At least my cognitive researcher. The children are deprived of the experience of life, of liveliness, and thus they themselves lack an important part of the mental balance. Of course, this claim can hardly be remeasured. Significant, however, is the increase in eating disorders or attention deficit disorder (ADHD). These diseases are treated with therapies and medicines. Hardly anyone comes up with the idea that these children lack, among other things, the natural habitat.

Off to nature!

This call goes to parents and children alike. There are so many ways to bring nature closer to children, even when living in the city. In the foreground should be the sensual experience, that is, the child must have the opportunity to move in nature, to look around unchecked and to explore the environment. The more pronounced a child is allowed to experience nature, the more he feels involved, knows his position, and learns responsible and attentive behavior towards all life - at least if you show it to him.

In addition to their own experiences and experiences, visits to museums and botanical gardens can provide older children with a theoretical and scientific overview. But theory in no way replaces sensory experience. Only by feeling, which is for a long time in the foreground for children, a real bond is established.

Nature education for city children

If parents feel overwhelmed or if they want to give their child even more nature experiences, natural and environmental education offers are well suited. These are available in almost all major cities. On natural green areas, so-called "urban nature experience spaces" within the urban area, trained staff creates offers that enable children to experience nature in a group-oriented manner. Incidentally, the institutions that offer nature education can often also be booked to host children's birthday parties!

To separate man and nature is a thought of modern times, which has already caused much damage. Man is nature and this fact should be conveyed by all parents to their child as early and as intensively as possible.
