A good deed might take a long time to repay like this one but that is not why we do good deeds.
We teach our children to be good people because it will make them happy.
They should know that when they do something for someone not to expect something back.

Maybe someone else is helped because you did a good deed.
It is like paying it forward.
If we do good things with the expectation to get something back, then it is not a good deed anymore.
We do good deeds because it does make us happy.
One day you might need something, or somebody who will help you without thinking twice because they know you are a good person.
Do not be influenced by bad people, if they stay like that you will land up an very unhappy person.
So children pick your friends, and let your parents meet them.
If you think they will not like the person, you know something is wrong.
So never be afraid of taking your friends home, and you will know as well as your parents that you are on the right path to become a wonderful person.

My Grandmother thumped into my head as a young kid ( she must have known the learning capabilities of o young boy).
You get what you sow, if you do good, you will get good, sometimes it takes a long time for the crop to grow.
My friend you had a very smart grandmother, it feels as if I knew her because this is what I always teach the kids around me. Life is short and beautiful if you just try your best.
The head is still sore from the thumping [it was a hard job getting anything through there]
It seems to work, even more so in reverse, do somebody dirt now, and see what happens when he gets a chance
