SWALLOWS EVERYWHERE
Everyone does need a home, so do birds, but to me the bird that makes the most beautiful nests are swallows.
We must teach children that if a swallow makes a nest, they must never break it down as they all come back to breed at the same nest every year.
When they come back they start fixing up the nest for the new season.
They are also so beautiful when they come in big numbers and circle all over. A swallow is really a wonderful bird. I am going to tell you how they look and how they build their homes. They are birds that try and come back to the same nest every year and they are not monogamous, but it does seem as if they use the same nest they are normally the same pare from the previous year.
What is wonderful is when we see them we know that summer is coming, and when they leave we know that winter is coming.
I have always found them to be such wonderful birds to look at as they are always leaving at the same time.
Sub British swallows spend their time in the summer there and, then come to South Africa in our summer time.
They are in their thousands just outside Durban and I will show you a picture of them.
In China they were building at a construction site and the swallows just came by the hundreds to make nests.
I am so glad when you see this video that they closed down that sight until after the breeding season.
I do not think we teach our children enough about all the wonderful birds out there.
I just have a soft spot for swallows as they use to build under my roof where we stayed before going on pension. My children use to love watching them to see how they build with mud.
People come from far to see them as they are so beautiful. The distances they fly are incredible.
The wonder of nature is something we must teach children to appreciate as we are so lucky here where we life because we have a beautiful country.
It is wonderful to see the swallows returning in the sunset with the wonderful colours of the sun behind them. It is really time for us to start showing our school children, and own children how beautiful they really are.
