Fun & Quick Experiments: Ice Cream In A Bag

It is that time of the year in South Africa where it's beginning to become nice and hot and the beautiful new flowers are coming out and it just smells great.  I am personally obsessed with ice cream and strawberry sauce on top and I figured that it would be a great time to share this next experiment with you all. I actually saw it on TV a few years back and decided to try it out for myself and it tasted amazing! So here's everything you need to know in order for you to try it out too!

What you'll need:

  • Sugar
  • Milk
  • Heavy cream ( optional)
  • vanilla essence or extract
  • Sealable bag
  • Salt
  • Oven mitts
  • Measuring cups and Spoons

What to do:

  1. Firstly, you'll need to pour 1 cup of milk into the 1 litre sealable bag.
  2. Add half a cup of cream, only if you want. I personally think that it makes the ice cream more delicious and creamier when you add it.
  3. 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence or extract.
  4. 1 tablespoon of sugar.
  5. Once you've added this into the sealable bag, set it aside.
  6. Add 2 cups of ice into the 4litre sealable bag.
  7. Add 6 tablespoons of salt in the 4litre sealable bag.
  8. Now you can put the 1 litre bag( make sure it's sealed)  into the 4litre ice bag.
  9. Put on your oven mitts! (you can also just cover the bags with a towel)
  10. SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE!!!
  11. Shake for 10-15 minutes. You can take turns to shake the bags.
  12. Once the 10-15minuets are done you can check to see if you like the consistency of the ice cream and enjoy! If you don't like the consistency just yet, just keep shaking it until you do.

So why exactly does this happen??:
