Empathic people can listen without interrupting, it is important that they know what they think. They are not always interested in trying their case, because they know that each person has their own story.

1. They are attentive to what others are telling them.

2. Empaths appreciate curiosity

Since childhood, we are inspired by the idea that asking many questions is bad, but in reality everything is completely different.

Of course, there are things you should not ask until you reach a certain degree of confidence, but this does not mean you should not ask for anything.

People who have the gift of empathy do not believe in it. They are curious to captivate, they are interested in everything: behavior, experience and any knowledge that belongs to another person.

And there is no better way to communicate with someone, than to ask questions about your life and show a real interest in everything you say.

So, the next time you talk to someone, ask about their interests, dreams and goals. This exercise will help you develop empathy, because it forces you to see the world from the perspective of another person.

3. Critical about your thoughts and opinions.

People are empathetic when they talk to those who do not share their lifestyle, do not close so as not to listen to an opponent and do not take their opinion for the absolute truth.

Much more productive to listen, ask and try to understand.

They understand that there is no single solution for everyone, and each person has their own reasons. They are not interested in proving your case at any cost. Rather, they would prefer to discuss the differences and exchange points of view.

At the end of this process, these people often have to change their minds or adapt a bit. But do not be fooled, do it to not please another.

If they ever change their mind, it's because they really believe in it.

To become more empathetic, try talking to people who have a radically different opinion about certain issues. Listen to their opinions and share your ideas.

The most important thing in this process: do not try to convince anyone that their ideas are more correct, just listen.

4. Think about exactly what they say

The language you use is as important as listening. People with the gift of empathy understand that the word is a weapon that can save or hurt someone, so they care about what they say.

When they speak, they do it without judgment, claims or orders. We all like to give advice, but ask if your interlocutor needs it.

Sometimes we can not distinguish the offer of assistance from the order to do something. Therefore, when speaking with a person in a difficult situation, use phrases like "I can not even imagine what it is" or "How can I help you?".

Therefore, a person will feel that you really understand him and that he will not condemn you.

5. Understand that each person needs their own approach.

People who have empathy understand that the proverb "treat others as you would like them to treat you" is not the rule, since we are all different and what is good for one may not like the other.

To be empathetic is to put aside your pride and recognize that there is more than one point of view about things, and both parties may be right.

We must remember that we are all different and we all have different needs.

Sometimes, only in certain situations we come in contact with someone, without thinking that everyone has their own past, which determines their reaction. Maybe this experience is insignificant for you, but for another it can have a great emotional weight.

This does not mean that people with empathy do not make decisions and do not say what they want. Quite the opposite: they explain what they feel or want, but with respect to the interlocutor.
