An abuser is a bad father

Father is concerned that his children have their basic rights, food, health, protection, education and love covered. A father who mistreats his wife gives the worst example he could give to his children. Educate with violence, without affection, without compassion and without humanity.

Children are therefore the most vulnerable victims in the case of family violence. Unable to understand why this violence. Unable to express their feelings. Some try to isolate themselves, cover their ears and others learn the patterns to repeat when their time comes.

How child abuse affects the mother

Children who suffer gender violence at home live in a perpetual nightmare. They do not necessarily have to be physically attacked to suffer psychological torture. The fear installed in their lives makes them behave differently. This is what happens to children when they are spectators of the mistreatment of their mother:

  • Self-esteem disappears, annihilated by continuous screaming and threats.
  • They are nervous, irascible and constant changes of humor.
  • Delay in growth and delay in language.
  • Constant nightmares and night terrors.
  • They show anxiety and lower their performance at school.
  • Depression.
  • Isolation or anger.
  • Personality disorder, mistreatment of animals, tantrums, lack of empathy.
  • His drawings change, they are drawings where the father figure appears separated and bigger, they use darker colors and the strokes are strong.

The consequences of mistreatment during childhood can be terrible from building an adult with a completely annulled personality to modeling a future abusive role, based on learning the model they saw each day.

Interesting article. Every time I read about this subject my mind keeps saying the same: we have to educate ourselves more and help other reach a proper education. Most of the adult's problems come from their childhood. So, maybe before having a child, we should get to know ourselves better or help parents discover their own issues.

I believe violence is a way of expressing frustration, anxiety, the need of kindness or the useless feeling. With some effort, in time, everyone can solve their issues (at least part of them). And, most of all, I believe everyone needs love. I believe every aggressive adult, as every aggressive child, needs attention and love. Maybe all of us can have a small contribution to a less violent world if we become better ourselves. Sometimes smiling to tired mother or being kind to a father that has made a mistake in his job may result in a less violent parent.
