Do you have a Success Criteria?

Success Criteria is useful to find out where a learner is presently at and what he/she should do to achieve a goal.

We are creating different contents in steemit so what is your personal Success Criteria and where are you now?

How do you know that you have achieved your Success Criteria?

By referring something to your interest, you have already started to think of your thoughts about what success is to you in steemit. (Activate prior knowledge)

This can easily be done with your classroom pupils or your own children.

What are the possible tools that you can use to find out your Success Criteria?

• Samples of success (Exemplars)

• Create Rubrics

• Craft a simple checklist (Monitor different aspects of accomplishment)

• Craft a script

Use of exemplars

One possible example:

Language teachers may have pupils to write many stories in the past.

Create a bank of stories where you categorize them in different mark range.

With the different mark range of sample stories, you can show these stories to your pupils to let them see what is a basic story, intermediate story and advance story.

They can see where they are in their writing skill and what is the next stage they can move on from where they are.

By identifying their own level, they can even have peers of different stages to level up their skills.

Create Rubrics or checklist

Creating rubrics or checklist can be very much like a ‘To-Do’ list.

If your rubrics or checklist does not address the required mini objectives leading to the main learning objective, it becomes just a ‘To-Do’ list like a grocery list.

The rubrics or checklist must be meaningfully crafted to achieve the success criteria wanted.

The following is an example of a checklist to avoid errors during Math examination.

ICE with double A

• Information not used (Numbers not used)

• Correct units used

• Error in transfer of numbers

• Accurate workings

• Answers are reasonable (Answer for a Father’s age is impossible to be younger than son)

Acronyms as scripts for steps or thinking process to complete a specific task

Acronyms of STAR to write a story

Study the question/situation/pictures given for writing the story

Think about possible creative ideas within the context of story

Apply your ideas into suitable sentences.

Reread your story to see to find errors

There can be many other ways to achieve your success criteria using different modes.

Teachers and parents need to use their creativity to bridge your pupils and children to achieve your desired outcomes.
