Entrepreneurial Spirit in kids

in #steemiteducation5 years ago (edited)

In most countries, we would always admire those who are successful when they take the courage to start a business.

Our schools have incorporated entrepreneurship whenever we can find the opportunities.

It can be an English lesson or Mathematics lesson. It can also be a charity drive to raise money for the needy.

Opportunities are created but teachers should still provide guidance when necessary.

Planning template

Teachers should provide some simple planning template with questions like what they can do it, how they can it, who are the consumers etc

A planning template ensure that our students can have good productive sessions during the initiate stage so that refinement can be made through consultation with their teachers.

Very often, inexperienced teachers failed because they did not provide scaffolding questions.

The planning template can include the scaffolding questions so that teachers do not have to assist every group intensively but to provide help when needed leading to self-directed and cooperative learning.

Out of the box

Teachers must encourage their students to think out of the box.

Before the start of group discussion, the ground rule of all ideas can be useful ideas and the need to respect every idea by their peers.

In the spirit of innovation and creativity, we must allow them to brainstorm freely so that ideas flow freely without restriction.

Their ideas must cater to the ones that they want to attract and it must be appealing.

They must put themselves in the shoes of others to ignite ideas that can break out of the norm.

Timeline

Our pupils must set a realistic timeline for different stages.

They should not leave it to chances.

Teachers can check with pupils the stages of completion so that they can realise whether they can meet each deadline successfully.

With a realistic timeline, pupils can ensure that they can complete what they have planned and find ways to complete when they missed certain deadlines.

Resources

Pupils should state clearly what are the resources that they need.

It would be great that we do not allow them to ask their parents for money to buy what they need.

Get pupils to find their own ways to solve their problems of limited resources without the help of parents or teachers.

Through this approach, we can ensure our pupils can develop problem-solving skills and the resilient to find ways to solve their problems.

In conclusion

The courage to take risk can be hard for our pupils.

Most of them often can find a definite answer in their test papers but they are forced with indefinite solutions when they are cornered to develop the Entrepreneurial Spirit.

With structured approach, we can lead most pupils with the experience of entrepreneurship but there would be some who need more courage to overcome their fear of unknown.

The fact is most of us may not be entrepreneurs because of the fear of failures as well as the unknown possibilities.

Just like steem platform is full potential but we have yet to know what would happen in the future.

The courage to stand together as one community to see the growth of this steem platform is definitely the desire of most of us.

Sort:

In Brazil, many students start their own business selling chocolates and truffles in school. The selling is not allowed inside the schools, but they open a exception in that cases.
I think that is an amazing thing to help the entrepreneurship that many kids have, besides, many of my friends that started to sell things on school, today have a financial life more stable them the others.

With my experience as a high school teacher I've learned a few facts: 1rst a teacher has the big chance to change kids' actitudes towards life challenges, 2nd a teacher can be a motivator thru the use of simple strategies that could include social media and the new information technologies. What is required is to try to be different avoiding a boring class. What you need is to "have the guts" to try and put the will to star a change in those unmature minds that are waiting to be awaken...
