Identify the needs of consumers

Regardless of the type of business that one may be in, we must always identify our consumers’ need.

One of the keys to a successful business is to know what are the needs of our consumers.

This article is just to trigger some thoughts and reflections.

Daily need

What do your consumers need every day?

It is a very simple question but it brings ideas on how to market or create a product that gains popularity.

We should never sell what we want to sell but sell what the consumers want to buy because it is a daily need.

Just like a simple loaf of bread.

It is a common product that many people would have it for breakfast.

There are already many types of bread so what can make the consumers buy your bread?

With the understanding that healthy diet is a concern to most modern people so it can be a type of bread that is extremely healthy and tasty.

This is just an example of how we can penetrate into a daily need for certain product.

Create a need

Most people are happy when they have a can opener but they feel that they need an automatic can opener to make their lives easier.

It is true that all consumers may be satisfied with what they already have until they see something else that can make their lives even easier.

The improved products become a need as a result of advertisement as well as word of mouth from friends around.

For a successful product, we may need to create a need that was never there through marketing as well as listing down all the benefits to consumers.

Create the want

Human nature has the desire to have what others have.

Whenever we see what others have, it becomes a desire that we want it too.

Just like the first generation of ipad, everyone who had it was really satisfied with it in the beginning until the next generation of ipad appeared.

It becomes a want when we see others having something better than us.

That is why many shops and companies are given out trial or samples to create this want for their products or services.

In conclusion

Identify the need of consumers can be an extremely big topic but I have only touched on the surface of it.

It is important to combine psychology with business especially those who are selling or marketing products.

Most companies who incorporate psychology into their business would know how to manipulate different situations to their advantages.

They would do proper research on the needs of consumers and hit really hard to gain consumers’ trust and create the demand for it.
