Learn From A Kid

Teachers should not teach the way they think is the best but teach the way how our students want to be taught.

Each generation of students is different from the previous generation so we cannot insist on methods that worked well in the past as it may just be a history of how effective it was for past students.

Lewis Tachau shared on Tedx Talks about his rich learning experience through online gaming.

He was only a 13-year-old kid when he shared about what he learnt via online games.

His wonderful presentation with his thoughts and his confidence is amazing to us as adults especially teachers.

There are teachers who may be frozen when they face a large crowd.

We know very well about cyber-addiction and many of our youngsters have fallen into it.

The problem is not about gaming but the lack of self-control and self-regulation of prioritisation.

With careful planning, teachers can even make good use of online gaming to educate our students in different subjects meaningfully and purposefully.

Rather than going against our students, it would be a great idea to ride on what they like and win them over to education. Gaming would not simply be pure entertainment of thrill but educating their minds meaningfully.

I hope this post ignites new inspiration in you about how we can teach in alternative way to engage our students in a fun and meaningful way.
