The consequence of lying

in #steemiteducation5 years ago (edited)

We often find children telling lies especially when they have done something unacceptable.

Lying is an attempt to escape from possible negative consequences that telling the truth may bring.

Many adults have lied during work especially those in sales.

Some believe that lying can bring them greater success since they have been lying since young.

White lies

As teachers, some of us may think that white lies are fine as long as they do not hurt anyone.

Many teachers may also use white lies as a form of comfort for students especially when they are down.

I personally do not agree to telling white lies.

A lie is a lie regardless of simply adding an adjective to it.

When we tell a lie, we may need to tell another to cover the other lie when the truth is going to be discovered.

Lying becomes an endless cycle when we tell the first lie before another.

When the truth is finally discovered, our reputation and trust are often affected.

A businessman may even have a failed business because of lying.

As teachers, we should teach our students not to lie even if their parents may tell them that it is alright to tell white lies.

It is hard to believe someone who tell lies even if they are white lies.

I probably would appreciate a friend who is truthful rather than one who showers me with sweet words but are all lies.

Lying to hide the truth

There are many adults who lie to hide the brutal truth that they feel it is hard to be accepted by others.

Some may lie to get business/finance opportunities. The greed of the heart causes many to lie and deceive their customers.

There are also parents who lie because they find it hard to let their children know that their father/mother is no longer around.

When the hard truth is out, it comes the rise of bitterness and hatred.

We may think that we have good intention or reason for lying but the consequence can often lead to serious broken relationships.

We can say that the lie is for the good of others but there is no deny that lying hides the truth and it hurts the heart of those who believe and trust the liar.

No matter how terrible the truth may be, the receiver may suffer emotional difficulties for a moment but a lie is only delaying such foreseen emotion.

When the truth is out, the receiver would not only suffer emotional difficulties due to the truth but a broken heart from the one that he/she trusted.

Transparent

Teachers should be the ones who educate the right values to our students.

We often come across children who may have been taught the wrong values at home but we should make it a point to use every teachable moment to ensure we nurture a generation with good values.

We should use teachable moment to discuss about the consequences of lying and how it can affect both the liar and the receiver of the lie.

We can get our students to understand the different negative impacts of lying.

We must also remember to praise and affirm our students whenever they have told the truth of what they may have done wrong but we can still have the consequence of the wrong action.

It is always easier to a lie than to tell the truth.

Telling the truth takes more courage since a lie is made whenever there is fear.

In conclusion

I do agree that there are steemit articles about telling lies.

Different articles can provide different perspectives and it really depends on the reflections or opinions of individuals.

As teachers, I believe that we should teach our students to tell the truth and do not even allow the existence of white lies as an excuse to hide the truth or delay a negative consequence.

No one can trust anyone when we live in a world of lies.

We should be good role models and should never lie to our students.
