The norm hinders risk
We often do not want to take risk because we would look weird if we do so.
The norm often hinders innovation and creativity from taking place due to risk of negative rejection by majority.
There are so many creative business ideas that are being put aside due to the risk of losing their long-established reputation.
Following the norm may lead to the stagnant of growth without research and development within organisations.
Take calculated risk with small steps
When risk is involved, there are many implications that we cannot risk and go all out.
We can take small steps of calculated risk to evaluate whether we are heading the right direction.
Avoiding risk of innovation and creativity would lose the chance to emerge above the rest of competitors.
Lots of entrepreneurs are successful because of their courage to take risk.
Just like Jack Ma of Alibaba Group. He went into online business when others do not believe and he managed to become one of the richest man in the world.
Research on failures
There are many who have taken risks in trying innovative and creative ideas in their businesses.
We can research on those factors that made them failed and evaluate what they could have done differently for greater chance of success.
We often learn best through failures and we can avoid failures when we know why others have failed.
We should never repeat the same mistakes of why others have failed.
Be convinced
Before others can believe in our innovative ideas, we must first believe our ideas first.
We must believe the different possible ways that our ideas can work and see how we can influence others to believe like we do.
When we can get more people to believe in our ideas, the risk factor would have reduced.
Risk often is due to lack of support from our targeted receivers.
When our targeted receivers are convinced by our conviction, we have gained the glimpse of success.
In conclusion
Norm hinders innovative and creative ideas from becoming reality due to risk.
When we lead others away from their norm and take ours as how things should be, we are the ones who may be creating the new norm.
There is a great difference between a leader and a follower.
We can take the lead for others to follow, we will become the leader of our respective field.
When we always follow others, we become the followers who may find it hard to get others to follow our ideas.
