The boys were devastated, but they have learned a hard lesson. The week after the accident they stayed mostly indoors, because the cast on Button's arm prevented them to do all the things they had planned to do during the holiday.

They could not go riding their bikes, nor could they go swimming. By the end of the second week they were even bored of playing video games.

One afternoon after sitting around for hours, Button had a brilliant idea. He told Shoelace about his idea, and they both ran to Button's mom to tell her what they wanted to do.

Shoelace and Button were going camping in the backyard!

Shoelace made a list of everything they were going to need, and Button went to take the tent out of the garage. Shoelace's mom made them sandwiches and packed some fruit for them to snack on. In a jiffy they were ready to go on their adventure.

Shoelace struggled a little with the tent, but with some guidance from Button, he eventually succeeded. It was already getting dark and a bit colder. They wanted to get inside the tent as soon as possible.

They ate their dinner and drank their sodas. They chatted for a few hours, and they were just having an awesome time. It was nearly ten o clock when both boys started yawning. They could hardly keep their eyes open. They turned off their flashlights, and after saying goodnight, they turned around to go to sleep.

Button fell asleep fast, but Shoelace lay awake thinking about the tree-house. They were going to have so much fun once the tree-house was built. Shoelace was just about to turn around to go to sleep when he heard something outside. He lay still, but then he heard it again.

It was time to wake up Button. If he had to die tonight, he at least wanted his best friend awake to witness it. Button sat up and yawned.

"What's going on?" Button asked, still halfway asleep.

"Shh...I hear something outside." Shoelace said, sounding quite anxious.

Button was wide awake now. He zipped open the tent slowly.

They peeked through the opening, and they both saw a shadow moving towards the house.

Button shrieked.

"I'm cold. Don't you think it's better if we go sleep in your room?" Button asked, with his eyes wide open.

"I was just about to suggest that..." Shoelace said and grabbed his blanket.

They were inside within two ticks.

Shoelace's dad heard them coming inside, and smiled when he finally went to bed. He didn't mean to disturb the two boys. All he wanted to do was to check if they had everything they needed.

The next morning the two boys were up bright and early. They made the beds and tiptoed downstairs to go pack up the tent. They did not say a word to anyone about sleeping inside.

"Did you sleep well in the tent last night?" Shoelace's dad asked curiously when they came back inside.

Button winked at Shoelace, and Shoelace winked back.

"It was great!" they shouted simultaneously before disappearing upstairs.
