Dtube Vlog: Experiments with Sound | Can You See Sound?
Hello everyone,
Welcome back to my series on home experiments! Today we are investigating on sounds!!!
Sound comes from vibration. It can travel in waves through any space, except vacuum. It travels faster than light, which is why we hear the thunder before we see the lightning.
Different frequency of sounds have different effects. Our hearing range accepts different frequencies and it differs from one animal to another.
First Experiment on Vibration
I used a tight cling film to illustrate that sound is vibration as the sprinkles jumped about when I made sound. It mimiced how a drum works.
Second Experiment on Distance and Pitch
This experiment mimicked how a guitar is tuned. The tension of the guitar strings (or rubber band in this case) is changed by the distance of the two markers. A tighter string gives higher pitch.
@littledrummerboy was with me in the beginning of the experiment but he ran off to play his own toys after a while. He then came back to play with the box and rubber band and said that is his guitar.
So, we can see the effects of sound even if we can't literally "see" sound!!

Thank you @iamjadeline. I'm just trying to have some fun at home with him though he sometimes also runs away, lol. I sometimes make mistakes in experiments and he isn't that patient with me yet haha.
