Comparing and Ordering Fractions using Benchmarks

We know that we can use a number line as a benchmark to compare fractions. We will explore including basic fractions as benchmarks on the number line and then locate the given fractions on this number line.

Once the given fractions got located on the number line they can be ordered easily. Below is a lessons on the concept followed by a small worksheet to practice the concept;

Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators e.g- by creating common denominators or numerators, or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as 1/2.
