PROPORTION SOLVING
What we are doing today is called ratios and they are really very easy if we understand the facts that this video is teaching us.
Just like equivalent fractions that we have already done, if you have forgotten just go back and look at the video again.

It actually means that even if they do not look alike they have the same amount and we can put an equal sign between these numbers because they are actually the same.
If you go back and watch some of the other video that we did this will all come back to you very easy.
It is so important to go through these videos as often as possible because all they can do is help you understand maths easily and stop thinking that maths is difficult.
In this video you will not believe how easy it actually is.
When we put an = sign between them we call it a proportion. The reason being that proportion is just equal in two ratios.
It is so important to remember that they have to have the same units.
What that means is that they have to represent the same thing at the bottom and top just like our video shows.
If we change the top number to something else as in the first number then it is not an equivalent proportion anymore and we cannot put an = sign between them.
Even if we keep them the same and just turn one round so that the top number is as the bottom it is also not a proportion.
Why do we want to know what proportions are, for the simple reason that it will make life a little easier and we can work out how long it will take to do something.
We can work out how long it will take us to read a certain amount of books we can even work distances out on maps.
So please go through this video very well as to find out we have to cross multiply.
