What is very attractive to readers, regardless of the generation to which they belong, is that the teachings are transmitted in a creative, interesting and fun way through the story of a little girl named Momo.

The book could well be classified as a work that invites every person to reflect . On the other hand, it can also be classified as a text with a strong criticism of society.

The novel is basically about a little girl who, suddenly, has to face some strange men. They wear gray and wear hats and briefcases. Its mission is to convince people to invest their time in a kind of time bank.

Time is life

Momo makes a strong critique of how wasted time is. In contemporary societies, time has become a good that is bought and sold. Time became a commercial element more.

This book exposes how time can become a commodity element and why it is necessary not to let money determine how we use it.

In other words, the book urges people to go further and spend time on what fills us and gives us non-material benefits.

Knowing how to listen, one of the teachings of Momo

Momo's teachings are taught through examples. In the case of the importance of knowing how to listen, the story presents a character who really knows how to do it, since he cares for people, without interrupting them, and allows his interlocutors to express themselves freely.

A good listener is not in a hurry and seeks, above all, to give support to others with their listening . In a world where everyone wants to talk, but few listen, Momo is a great example.

Solidarity is an essential value

Momo is a girl who lives in a community with few resources. That's why everyone helps each other and shares what they have with each other.

Momo herself is the first beneficiary of this help, she has no home and the community provides it. She has no assets and the others intervene to acquire them. She, in turn, becomes the light that guides others.

Creativity and imagination

One of Momo's most interesting teachings is the value of the imagination . With this and creativity, the ordinary can become something special. You do not need things to feel good and have fun. What makes the difference is the ability to imagine.

It is a lesson that many children and young people today should learn.

Currently, unfortunately, many think that fun is in the material and not in the experiences. It is believed that having an object is guaranteed fun . Momo shows that it is not like that.

Utilitarianism is not the best option

Many of Momo's teachings are aimed at rescuing the most genuine human being . A good part of it is found outside the "useful" circuits.

Not everything in life should be done to get a profit or a utility, there are free acts like imagine and laugh. Not everything has to be focused on the monetary benefit.

Satisfaction is not in consumption

All the gear of today's society focuses on making consumption possible . It has spread the idea that the greatest satisfaction is in buying, and in having money to do so.

That is why interest has been lost in activities that do not revolve around this logic; however, Momo proves that this is, rather, a path to unhappiness.

The hapiness is in the little things

Each day is full of small details that often go unnoticed. This is because people focus only on what they call "important issues".

In the end, nothing satisfies them. A dynamic is built in which more and more is needed more and more. At the same time, the ability to see the magic of small things is lost , and in them there is bliss.

The lie hurts

On several occasions, Momo refers to the damage caused by the lies . He says in the novel that "in his opinion, all the misfortunes of the world were born of the many lies, those said on purpose, but also involuntary, caused by haste or inaccuracy." It teaches that the most negative effect of lying is the destruction of trust.
