How do you feel?

Communication between students and teachers are really important. As an English teacher who is working actively, I always do my best to form an unbreakable bond between me and my students. Today, I would like to talk about some simple examples which make you seem as the best person in the world for your students. All the examples you are going to read are based on my own experiences.

First of all , asking your students how they feel today is a great start for your lesson. It might seem so simple for many people. However, that is a sign of caring of them. I usually prefer to ask all students in general and then choose some of them to ask the question directly. Sometimes, they might be shy, so you may need to force them a bit in a playful way. It is the best way of starting a lesson!

Admit your mistake!

We are all people. Making a mistake is a part of our life. While teaching a second language which is not your mother language, it is really normal to make mistakes in pronunciation or the meanings of words. I also make some mistakes from time to time. The key point in this issue is admitting your mistake.

When your students see how honest and reliable you are considering that you are a person who can easily admit mistakes, they feel that you can be the person whom they can trust all the time. It might be a bit embarrassing for an experienced teacher to accept the mistake. However, that is all fine, just admit your mistake and continue your great work.

Be equal!

Another important things which can make the best person ever is your attitude about equality. If you always give speaking chance to same students in classroom, other students might feel that you are not the teacher of all students in classroom which put you into a terrible situation. Therefore, a good teacher must be able to show equality.

Some of your students might be so interested and jump into all activities in classroom. If you just follow them and ignore the rest of the class, you can lose both control and trust of your students. In order to ensure that everyone is equal in class, you may direct your students to work in pairs and groups so that everything can be fair for everybody.

Flexibility!

The last thing I would like to mention is flexibility. What I mean with flexibility is that your students may not be having their best day in the classroom or they might find the topic extremely which you might also agree with. In this case, an experienced teacher might find some ways to make the lessons more interesting.

If you insist on the same boring subject, your student might even think that you are not clever enough to observe the situation and show some action. After all, an amazing teacher must be able to create such a great bond that he or she can easily transform the lesson into something more interesting and effective for students.

Communication

As long as you care about your students and act like a friend with them, you will be someone who is more than a teacher. All the things that I have mentioned in this post happen in my classes every day. I hope that your relations with your students is as good as mine.
