Let them choose

There are lots of irritating things that I observe in all points of my life. One of those irritating thing is gender inequality. As an educator who is aiming to educate our children in all aspects, not only English language, I always do my best to help children learn and live in equality. That's why, today's topic is about gender equality and the ways of teaching kids the importance of it.

It is sad to see that there is gender inequality in almost all countries. Parents and teachers have some things to do to raise children who might end this problem in future. Your son or daughter might want to play different things. It is totally fine. Instead of forcing them to play some certain objects like cars for men and babies for girls, you can just let them play whatever they want. This is just one example of teaching the equality between them. There aren't any certain rules!

Equality in professions

It is our mission to help parents in this issue. Who are we? We are educators who spend most of our time with children in schools. They see us role models. First of all, we should make sure that there must be gender quality in our working environment. As children tend to observe and copy things that they see around themselves, it is important to be polite to each other and prove that everyone is equal at work.

In addition to this, there are some stereotypes about jobs. People usually think that only men can be police or construction workers. For men, they are usually taught that cooking is only women's job, but it is not true at all. As teachers, we can try to organize some workshops where they can watch and read some works which aim to show that there is equality in all parts of life. People can do whatever they like in their life, there is no barrier in their career.

Meeting children with professionals

Listening to a success story from successful people in community is a great way of teaching our kids gender equality in society. They can observe that their gender is not an obstacle in their life. They can follow their dreams and do whatever they want. Being a male or female doesn't make any difference in their preferences.

I think, taking children to meetings with important role models in society should be done in a larger scale. If we don't teach our kids the importance of gender equality, it will affect their lives in every possible point. Therefore, it is better to take this mission nationally and try to meet them with role models as much as possible.

Classroom

Since they spend most of their time in classroom, it is the best place to help them learn gender equality. When I have lessons with kids, I usually make them sit in groups where there are both boys and girls. Boys usually tend to sit with boys while girls do the same thing with girls, but I think teacher should make them sit together intentionally so that they can learn to work together.

Working together must be a part of their life. It will lead to their life in future. Gender equality is a crucial basis to create the peace and love in society. Imagine two people living together in a house. If they don't know how to respect each other and do things together, they can't be happy. When trees are still young, it is better to teach them the importance of it in every possible situation.

Education

Education is everywhere. You don't need to be a teacher to educate your child. If you are not able to raise your child well, you actually harm all society. Every child is important for the sake of national and international peace.

This is very true, I learned about this from my wife when she bought my daughters cars to play with, it hasn't changed how sweet they are one bit

Your daughter deserves everything she wants in her life :)

So glad you did this post - my husband and I were just talking about this how parents freak out if the child does not fit in the 'box' of what is expected. Resteeming

I am happy that you are satisfied with my post, thanks for support!

So true, and well said. We can't stress this enough it seems. In some cultures it extends to the type of chores they are given at home.

Thank you for writing this.

You are welcome, people should be educated more about this issue.
