#Steemit Sandwich Contest# week 34 @jaybird : I REALLY SHOULDN't BUT I WILL sandwich - a double cheese meatball grinder

This bomb of a sandwich is my version of the classic meatball sub, but with a twist. Instead of the marinara sauce, I prefer using roasted chilly and sweet pepper salsa, bake fresh garlic rolls, and stuff the meatballs with mozzarella cheese....It makes you wanna find a peacful corner and enjoy!!!!!

THE RECIPE:

Roasted garlic rolls:

  • 400 g of type 00 flour
  • 1 pack of dried yeast
  • 1/1,5 cup of warm water
  • teaspoon of sugar
  • salt
  • olive oil
  • roasted garlic (see prep for the chilly salsa)

Kneed untill elastic and soft.

Leave to proove in a warm place, like next to an oven, which you turn on full wack right now :-)!

After doubled in size, divide into rolls, add roasted garlic and bake for 20 min at 190 °C.

Roasted pepper and chilly salsa

Roast, like REALLY BLACKEN your pepper and chillies. Roast a few cloves of garlic (for the bread), just take them out before burnt :-)!
Cool the peppers, peal and dress with salt, olive oil, chopped garlic and vinegar.

Meat Balls:

  • 400 g ground pork and beef mixed mince
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 egg
  • salt, pepper, cumin, paprika powder, chopped rosemary
  • mozzarela cheese cubed to stuff the meat balls
  • bacon

Mix the ingredients, stuff the balls with cheese and fry off with bacon, finish in the oven for 10 min at 190 ° C.

AND NOW, ASSEMBLE THIS MONSTER!!!

Toast roll, add gorgonzola and mozzarela cheese, add chilly pepper salsa, add meatballs, add cheese again, ohh my god....grill.

Are you into chilies like strong exotic ones like Pili Pili, Moruga Scorpio, Jalapeno etc?

Oh yes, i grow around 20 varieties...bolivian rainbow, thunder mountain longhorn, moruga, naga, hot tomato, scotch bonet.....and on, and on....addicted to chillies!

So awesome, do you have a garden? How long does it take for the chilis to grow ?

Yap, a large one. Depends on the weather, chillies need a sunny and hot summer. I would say seed to baby plant (germination) around 7-10 days in a warm place. Then replant them, leave on a sunny window seal for another 2 weeks. Transplant them outside. Hotter chillies need a bit more time to ripen...i would say all together around 2 - 3 months, depending on the weather and sort. I found it best to plant it against a south-facing wall, maximizes sunshine and protects from the wind...

Having a big garden is so cool !!!

Do you think a hot scorching dry summer (38 C + ) is too much for chilies ?

hehehe I wish you could, maybe it will work, but I am based in Peru at the moment. A month ago or so, I made a post about how I have no more Sriracha hot sauce. Yesterday I had 3 bottles delivered and all because of steem... so so cool. I made a video about it today.

Haha, that is soooo cool!!! I couldn't imagine my life without chillies!!! I grow around 20 varieties..and other stuff...i have a big garden at home....and garden work starts now, spring time...i'll do a post on it soon...

I have used to have a collection of chili seeds from places I went to. Plant a chili plant and post about it everyday it grows :)
