There are always multiple entries pitted against each other for every winners spot including the SSC Outstanding Achievement Awards and it's continually a painful process picking 1 over the other(s).

2. Well...This is a heck of debut! It's a very interesting and beautifully put together entry. Sandwich is action packed as well with all sorts of interesting ingredients! I definitely appreciated the sheer amount of homemadness that went into this creation. I wasn't sure what a jaffle was at first...now I know :)

3. From the home made dough to the Jaffle to "Grandma's Bolognese Sauce" which was epic, this entry was certainly boombastic! Great artistry putting it together as well. Good little background and also pres was top.

4. All and all, great debut!

1. "I thought that judging for the second time would make it easier..Ha, I was so wrong (happens to me a lot). I have to say I was so pleasantly surprised at how many of us opted for a veggie/vegan version this week! I guess the winter is finally gone and all the fresh produce from local gardens is just too tempting to be ignored.

2. "I was inspired by these lovely, vitamin packed creations! And the runner up this week is....(as @Jaybird would say: drumroll please...!!!!) @street.yoga!!!! Congratulations!! What an awsome french toast with avocado, tapenade and, most impressively, that tomato chutney!

3. Great combo, perfectly presented and a reminder to all of us that we should give our bodies and the planet a break, at least once in a while, and enjoy delicious vegan food!"

1. What an impressive piece this cucumber sandwich was. Loved the hollowed out Cuc and how everything seemed to be totally in context for this seemingly odd ball creation.

2. We learned about Laab the Thai cultural dish, which was interesting as well. It's not every day that you bathe meat in fish sauce lol and to top it off, use lime juice and fresh mint. However, the combination of all these seemingly oppositional flavours appeared to combine in such a way that they'd probably have rock your food world nonetheless! I also appreciated the vast homemade quality throughout the entry including the tarot chips!

3. Presentation was top notch, great photos, background tidbits and also process laid out

4. All and all an awesome addition for week 40!

Featured Entries: (I will for the most part only be featuring the "Outstanding Achievement" winning entries in this section)

@Alansthoughs - no big surprise here that Alan makes the ft. His creations are bat -shit- crazy lol. He's like the mad scientist of food art, sometimes bringing the most odd and grotesque ingredients to delicious fruition! In this case, he actually made a stuffed "donut" topped with molten cheese (although kinda normal considering haha)! Plus who doesn't like Maple Syrup and Bacon...The degree of his homemade contributions, including the bun never seize to impress

@andreipopa - Caught my eye and my appetite with this interesting creation. Stuffed Salami Stew Sandwich. From the home made bread to the choice of stew stuffing, this was potentially one of his most impressive entries. I also enjoyed the potato and Leeks additions! Hearty!

@tesscooks4u - Another impressive creation from Tess (who rarely disappoints...actually never does tbh lol). This epic fish sandwich with homemade slaw was a worthy adversary in week 40. Both @homecook and I had it on our radars. Pres was top as per usual and the deep fried fish looked to die for. I also really appreciated the chips and the wasabi mayo!

@juliensorel - I wanted to highlight this entry strictly for the "Choose your own adventure" style sandwich idea submitted. I felt like this was a huge distinction among the contest not only this week, but in its history of SSC and for that reason this entry deserved some recognition. The entry was also well put together, had a nice variety of ingredients (in which to choose from) including lentil slices and eggs and was short and sweet!

SELECTING WINNERS!

1. @jaybird: I select the winners based on a variety of parameters. Just do your thing and have fun with it. I'm considering many factors such as presentation, ingredients & originality, creativity, community opinion & artistic ability just to name a few. PLEASE make sure to follow the rules! They are easy to follow and help prevent the tragedy of Null entries!

2. There are now 6 prizes. First Prize = roughly 50% of the prize pool

3. Second Prize dubbed the "Veto Vote" = roughly 30% of the prize pool + the honour of selecting the following weeks second prize winner. This prize is ideally given to an entry that although it did not win the contest, showed distinction among all the other entries. This could be a feature such as it was the community favourite, it used the most bizarre ingredients, or, it was just the best looking sandwich etc. IMPORTANT! The "Veto Vote" holder may not vote on his or her own sandwich to be selected as the second prize. However, they are still eligible to win First Prize should they enter the contest that week.

4. Third Prize will be roughly 15% of the prize pool

5. Roughly 5% of the pool goes towards the "Outstanding Achievement Awards"
