There are always multiple entries pitted against each other for every winners spot including the SSC Outstanding Achievement Awards and it's continually a painful process picking 1 over the other(s).

2. This guy kicks ass... Very interesting creation sort of a birds nest (hits my SteemBirds heart strings), sandwich creation. Presentation on this entry was top notch and artistically crafted.

3. In terms of the thematic quality. Alan paid homage to his Chinese cultural roots utilizing a very interesting food preservation technique. The salted Egg was of particular curiosity for me. It's a technique for essentially curing raw egg yolks. Furthermore, he utilized rice, a common ingredient within his food culture and created vermicelli noodles instead of bread.

4. The coconut caviar was also a nice touch and it probably wouldn't have been Chinese food without pork right!? lol.

5. All in all, a fantastic creation and entry!

1. "For @chefsteve making his own version of a softshell crab sandwich was his way of paying tribute to his family tradition of crabbing but with his own spin."

2. "I like @chefsteve's tip on how to purchase the softshell crabs and how to clean them. The fennel slaw adds freshness to the rich tartar sauce, buttery brioche and briny crab. The green fennel fronds look striking against the shaved fennel bulb. The smokiness from the slightly toasted bun compliments the grilled flavors of the crab, the slight sweetness and tanginess of the tartar sauce pairs well with the saltiness of the crab. I also like how the star of the sandwich is the soft shell crab and it's also the crunch factor."

1. "@lizelle, even though she did not become an anglar, she definitely showcased the smoked snoek, in her wrap making her family proud. Bonus points for making South African pancakes which is another family favorite as the wrapper."

2. "@lizelle's wrap looks like a soft fluffy thick crepe. I appreciate the tip about how the snoek has long bones and needs to be deboned. The peppery rocket and the pungent green onion is the perfect foil for the smokiness and richness of the fish. The sweetness of the tartar sauce compliments the saltiness of the fish and the addition of horseradish adds a touch of spiciness."

@pandamama - "I would like to give @pandamama a shout out for outstanding achievement. Not only did her slow cooked sandwich sound delicious flavored with oregano and Greek salad, but her tid bit on cayenne pepper was fascinating."

@yesslife - "I also thought @yesslife's pairing of rice tortilla with three different onions was." creative.

@travelling-two - I enjoyed this 2nd go at a Quesadilla. These guys really do work in 2s. Sriracha being the culturally themed ingredient was also great bc I know how many SSC participants love that. I recently picked some up myself and love the mayo combo it produces. Great pres on this entry and of course I loved the bacon add! Nice colours too!

@sandrina.life - What an epic family traditional sandwich... This entry made me smile and of course it was exactly in line with this week's theme. Big points for actually eating that thing too lol. Simple yet effective, sometimes all you need is bread and nuttella I guess.

SELECTING WINNERS!

1. @jaybird: I select the winners based on a variety of parameters. Just do your thing and have fun with it. I'm considering many factors such as presentation, ingredients & originality, creativity, community opinion & artistic ability just to name a few. PLEASE make sure to follow the rules! They are easy to follow and help prevent the tragedy of Null entries!

2. There are now 6 prizes. First Prize = roughly 50% of the prize pool

3. Second Prize dubbed the "Veto Vote" = roughly 30% of the prize pool + the honour of selecting the following weeks second prize winner. This prize is ideally given to an entry that although it did not win the contest, showed distinction among all the other entries. This could be a feature such as it was the community favourite, it used the most bizarre ingredients, or, it was just the best looking sandwich etc. IMPORTANT! The "Veto Vote" holder may not vote on his or her own sandwich to be selected as the second prize. However, they are still eligible to win First Prize should they enter the contest that week.

4. Third Prize will be roughly 15% of the prize pool

5. Roughly 5% of the pool goes towards the "Outstanding Achievement Awards"
