I’ve joined steemit for a few months now, and I’ve observed the more you promote and contribute to the steemit community the more you gain also from it.. And in the same way you are also promoting the steem cryptocurrrency.

Δ I believe in the power of the platform in empowering talented individuals most specially in developing countries such as ours, Nigeria. I started the journey into sharing our great experiences in Steemit via sharing them in Facebook, then I became part of a community of Nigerian Steemians through Steemit Nigeria #SIN2 and saw that too as an opportunity to widen our efforts in promoting the platform by speaking at those events to encourage people to sign up.

Steem is designed from the ground up to address the major barriers to adoption and monetization of a social media based economy. Our thesis is that the same techniques used to grow major social media platforms can be used to bootstrap a successful cryptocurrency.
Economic incentives enabled by cryptocurrency can dramatically facilitate the growth of a new social media platform. It is the synergy between cryptocurrency and social media that we believe may give Steem a powerful advantage in the market. The fundamental unit of account on the Steem platform is STEEM, a crypto currency token.

Steem operates on the basis of one-STEEM, one-vote. Under this model, individuals who have
contributed the most to the platform, as measured by their account balance, have the most influence over how contributions are scored.

Furthermore, Steem only allows members to vote with STEEM when it is committed to a vesting schedule. Under this model, members have a financial incentive to vote in a way that maximises the long term value of their STEEM.

Steem is designed around a relatively simple concept: everyone’s meaningful contribution to the
community should be recognized for the value it adds. When people are recognized for their meaningful contributions, they continue contributing and the community grows. Any imbalance in the give and take within a community is unsustainable. Eventually the givers grow tired of supporting the takers and disengage from the community.

SO HOW THEN CAN WE PROMOTE STEEM?

Through Facebook / Social Medias.

Having very little knowledge about how the platform works in the beginning, I was not very comfortable in presenting Steemit in person. Even then though, I understood that I need to take part in promoting the platform whichever way we can.
I started out by sharing my experiences through a page I originally created to promote Genesis-Mining. I thought it was a good idea since people who are already following the page have existing knowledge of how cryptocurrencies work, at the same time the fact they are in Facebook tells me that they are also knowledgeable about social media. Both posts together reached over 3,800 people.

As I become more comfortable in the platform, I started sharing sharing our activities to friends using my own Facebook feed as shown below. This have started creating interest with people we personally know and are creating sign-ups. And in this way I am promoting Steem and also steemit.

|Start by creating dedicated pages for Steem on Facebook, Google Plus, and other social networking sites. Encourage people to join your pages to stay updated with the ongoing news and updates about your coin.

Through Steem Events (Lectures, Seminars, Meet-ups, Campaigns, Rally)

I have so far participated in a couple of Steem outreach events. In both of the events, I took the opportunity to present Steem and Steemit to the participants.

The first one was in steem meet up owerri. We brought music and art to a few dozen kids with different cases from mild autism, to down syndrome, to many other types of intellectual disabilities. The below photo shows the kids in my group for the event, and their amazing art work on the wall.

In both the morning and afternoon sessions in MOUAU mega steem meetup I was able to talk about Steemit and encouraged sign ups. We presented it quite differently to the participants of the sessions.

In the morning with the students studying in the known to be quite expensive institution, we presented Steem and Steemit as an investment opportunity, as well as something that can help them in their journey in being future educators. We spoke about how Steemit, art, and music can help them educate Nigerian youths when they graduate.
While in the afternoon session with the out of school youth, we presented Steemit as an earning opportunity, at the same time as a means of learning outside the pillars of an educational institution.

We will continue to find new ways to promote Steem/Steemit and help support its growth while intensifying our efforts through the three ways presented in this contribution.

Then, you can officially introduce Steem coin, its history, benefits, future and other details to the community users. If they are interested, they will ask questions for which you can provide answers accordingly.
