Learning from SCOT - How Communities and SMTs has the potential to increase the demand for Steem Power exponentially

in #steemleo5 years ago

This afternoon I was thinking about how to increase the demand and use case for Steem Power.Currently, the main reason why someone would invest in a large amount of Steem Power would be to increase their stake for curation. In other words,to earn more Steem through curation and authoring posts. The only other major use for Steem Power is Resource Credits, but for the average user, they wouldn't require any more than around 50 SP.

With the introduction of many SCOT projects, we are seeing people invest in these SCOT tokens and staking them, because with a relatively small amount of Steem, they can get a much larger stake. And with many SCOT tokens such as SPORTS, SCT and LEO doing so well, it makes sense to increase stake in these tokens.

What if Steem Power was required for hosting Communities and issuing SMTs on Steem?

With the development of both Communities and SMTs set to come out before the end of the year, we could increase the demand for Steem dramatically if each community that was established required a certain amount of Steem Power to be held in the founder/moderator account. We have seen the demand for ENG tokens on Steem-engine rise significantly because of the requirement for ENG to be staked to use Scotbot and Nitrous. And if we utilized a similar model for Communities and SMTs on Steem with the requirement of Steem Power, then we could see the demand for Steem Power increase exponentially.

Furthermore, what if we somehow leveraged SCOT and SMTs with Communities, then we could see a high demand to bid for the most popular communities, and if some bidding mechanism in terms of Steem Power required to host the communities was utilized, then that would increase the demand for Steem Power even more.

Not sure if that's in the current design of Communities and SMTs. I certainly hope so. And if that is the case, then I'm extremely bullish on the future of Steem. What do you think?

I have been bullish on the future of steem for the longest time now, which is present on my main account @runicar :D

And I also think SMT's and SCOT tokens will drive up demand for STEEM without a doubt. I'm already seeing it play out but on a rather small scale as most steemians aren't yet aware of what's going on SteemEngine and all of the Steem based platforms which recently sprouted.

Cool, I didn’t know this was your account @runicar. Yes, I’ve always been bullish on Steem. I just think if creating and maintaining Communities and SMTs required an amount of SP or Steem/SBD that would be burnt, then that would be huge for Steem.

Oh ye, it's me :D Had to make another account just for the purpose of SportsTalk as I didn't want to confuse my followers all of a sudden with sport related content after posting abotu crypto for two years.

Great idea! Som kind of burning process would drive up the price, definitely. But how to implement it? What to burn tokens for? For SMT creation? It will be interesting to see what our witty developers will figure out but I'm certain someone will try to implement some kind of burning process, that's for sure.

Yeah, no prob, the trend is everyone making alt accounts for SCOT tokens. It makes sense.
In terms of the burning and SP requirements, I think they can learn a lot from SCOT and the requirement for ENG payments and staked ENG as ongoing costs.

Yes, I think we do, but SCOT and SMTs can complement each other and serve different purposes.

Okay. Because it seems confusing and nor needed for me again looking at how steem engine is doing
