Complete Bathroom Remodel - Shower Tile Nearly Complete

It took a full day just to tile the two shower alcoves. There are two more courses of subway tile to do at the bottom of the wall, but they will be finished after I put the floor in.

The drain plumbing is done. The next task is to attach a Schluter Kerdi-line drain to it and put in a foam wedge that gives the floor the correct pitch so that the water flows in the right direction. After that, I can start installing the under floor heating system.

The floor tiles are big and there isn’t a lot of fussy cutting to do, so I hope it goes relatively quickly.

There is a soapstone quarry near here. I’m looking forward to visiting the quarry to pick out a counter top for the vanity.

Don't forget to tune in to the Meadows & Makers podcast at 1 PM eastern on MSP-Waves. @jackdub and @makinstuff will review the weeks Steem posts regarding building things, gardening, and the DIY scene. Unfortunately, I will not get to hear it live because I will be on the road, but we can catch the recording later.

Cheers, Professor Bromide

Thanks, man. I feel like I'm making real progress now.

You are welcome. You are definitely making real progress on that project! Thanks for sharing and thanks for that tip on the flooring/drain system.

That tile job looks great man! Of all the reno projects I've done, I've always shy'd from tile. :-) I really like the subway-esque white tile. Very nice.

Thanks. I was worried that the wall tile would be hard to set, but it is really easy. Making neat cuts is a pain, though.

Good call on the Schluter Kerdi system. We used that system and also installed under floor heating. It’s really an easy job and save used probably $8,000 dollars.

I like the Schluter products. They make everything very easy. I was considering an old school packed mortar bed under the shower floor until I found the Kerdi system. It looks to be a lot simpler this way.
