Innena - Divine Healer

Innena learned her healing craft from Jakobie Priest, they were the outcast, a splinterless group of individual that did not fit in with the any of the realms. They were the wanderers, the unsettled, the gypsies, mostly they were called the outcast.

The last time anyone heard of them was well over 200 years ago. They did not die out, they did not come together in a community; they spread and lived among the splinters. They became one of the most unknown of the secret societies.

They were healers, what's more they were worshipers of an ancient god, one no longer known or spoken of in the realms outside of the highest levels of the universities of mages.

Innena was taken in by an ancient monk/priest of Jakobie. He had found her near death, part of an ancient sacrifice to a splinter god, the one of the moon. Something had gone wrong in their ceremony, that something was the Jakobie Priest; Selandian.

Fifty years had passed since that day, and Innena had not aged one day. She was a virgin of sixteen when she was to be sacrificed, when she was sacrificed. For she had indeed died and been dead for eight minutes. It had taken Selandian that many minutes to slay the thirty three people that killed her.

He had then taken her 'between' where she has been for these many years. She had only been awake for two weeks. Selandian had explained to her what he had done, what he had been bid to do by his god, that he had no choice in the matter.

She was at first angry and upset and hateful of Selandian, but after three days and three nights she understood why. His god had come to her, in her dreams he had shown her things. He had shown the massacre at her sacrifice, Had shown her, her moon god, laughing with glee at what had happened to his followers. He had shown her to much, and yet not enough. She had never spoken to a god, she did not speak to this god either, he spoke at her, he showed her, he told her. He did not hear her. She spoke not a word after the first night. Just watched, listened and learned.

On her fourth day, she came awake, in more ways than one. She greeted Selandian. "I am sorry for how I acted during my first two weeks awake with you. I see now why you had no choice. He is a hard master to serve. I have not yet decided if I will serve him or not. I am ready for breakfast, then let the learning begin, teach me, everything, help me understand, and then I will decide, as I told him." With that she went to the breakfast area and slumped down in a hard backed chair.

The Calling

Innena awoke from her trance, she had been in comune with her God. It had been three hundred years since her last calling from her God, She could not deny his call. It has been over fifty years since she had lived in the splinters, it was now time to return. One of Selandian's great great grandchildren was going to need her.

The Fire Beetles were on the march, her God did not know why or who controlled them, just that devastation was going to happen, things were heating up in the splinters, and lives needed to be saved. Innena was able to "catch up" on events in the splinters through a Jakobie Priest that had just returned.

Something happened during her between hop, magic was failing, but this was as if it was planned. She arrived in Durblain Port, thirty years before she should have. Magic was not just failing, someone powerful was manipulating it. She would have to pass her time, she opened a small apothecary on the outskirts of Durblain Port. In time she made friends and as the time grew close for Leah to show she had set up a network of agents to let her know. She only had a general time frame, not a specific date.

On the day of Leah entering Durblain Port, Innena was called away two days before, to help with a difficult child birth. After a five days of travel to aid in the birth that went without a hitch, a short rest and five days travel back, she checked in with her network.

"I am sorry my lady, but the pirate has already set sail five days ago. She was only in town for three days, and suddenly left after being attacked." Randel informed Innena, "We sent Alasheia to inform you of her arrival, did she not tell you"?

Innena was not very happy, "I am sorry Randel, Alasheia never met up with me" Innena knew without a doubt that the poor girl was dead, and her death weighed heavy on her heart. "Thank you for the information. I will be leaving town soon. Please take this as a token of my gratitude". She gave Randel a ring, one that would protect against minor fire beetle damage.

Innena went in search of information of destinations of Leah, she did learn that a group of Fire Beetles had tried to have her assassinated. She did not learn of Leah's destination, but she did learn the Fire Beetles only left a short time ago. So Innena set out to follow them, in hopes they would eventually lead her to Leah.

Steem Monsters Common Card Fantasy Story Contest! // Week 9 I have been having a lot of fun learning to write these little stories, I am not a writer yet, but I feel as if I am getting better, so take a chance on yourself, and try your hand at a short story.

Great stuff.

I'm still not sure what this whole Steem Monster thing is about.

Translating a group style tabletop game to the internet, "Steemit" to be specific. Kind of like the late 70's early 80's dungeons and dragon tabletop game. We are not sure how it will work when the games begin, it may be a fun game, in may be a fan game, it may be a fanatical players game. Time will tell.

Hmmm, sounds interesting. I did some of the old graph paper D&D back in the day.

I may just give it a go, but not tonight I'm too tired

Week 9 is done, but tomorrow they will have a new card to write a story about.

I like all these elements. I love the name Innena, I like how you incorporate a lot of pre-existing lore, and I love the whole context you've got here. Very intriguing! Good luck on winning this round!

Thank you very much for your kind words. They went to a first, second, third, contest instead of the winner and 5 runner ups, so I did not make the cut. But that is understandable when you read the quality of the work of the three that were chosen. I am enjoying the story writing try and practice though. My rexxie story actually got a curie if you can believe that. It has been fun, 9 contest, 9 entries. So I am obviously enjoying trying to get one a week done.

Wow, you've done one every week? I admire your persistence. And that sounds really fun!

It does allow practice, and they give guidelines sort of in the contest, so I kind of try to use them as a guide for formulating the story. So far I have actually thought of something on every card, the Divine Healer was the most difficult, I just had a hard time wrapping my head around how to build a character out for it.
