Announcing the @steemmonsters Block Explorer!

in #steemmonsters6 years ago (edited)

What is @steemmonsters?

The @steemmonsters blockchain collectible card game was recently announced to overwhelming enthusiasm and an outpouring of support from the Steem community. In short, this is is a card game, where cards are generated and stored in the blockchain that looks much like Magic the Gathering with a dash of CrytoKitties. I know, read the intro to get the full story.

Today they are only pre-selling packs but soon we will be able to play the game with each other on the blockchain!

Beyond that, if you're familiar with real world CCGs, each card has tangible value and that applies here. In time, the cards you hold may become more rare and therefore more valuable.

It is projects like this built on the Steem blockchain that will ultimately add value for the token and drive our long term success. I'm fully behind this project and can't wait to see it succeed even further!

Masssive @steemmonsters Support

You may have noticed that @berniesanders is a huge fan of @steemmonsters and has been posting about it a quite a bit lately.

Earlier today he posted an offer to the community which is as follows:

For those who have asked to see my cards, I will not be showing them. Consider this a challenge for someone to create a steemmonsters explorer where we can analyze each others decks. I will give 250 packs to the first person that can achieve this.

I love a good challenge, so I sat down and got to work.

The @steemmonsters Block Explorer

Since you probably just scrolled down to look for this anyway, here's the URL:

Steemmonsters Block Explorer

You can enter your Steem username with or without the @ in front and you'll see all of your @steemmonsters cards like this.

I'm showing each card, the count of your duplicates of this card, and the unique uid for each card you hold.

I literally banged this out this afternoon so there's gotta be a few bugs in there! And I used a bit of a workaround in this implementation to get this proof of concept up quickly, but I'm going to build this out properly and push all of the custom_json operations to a database so I can easily search and join everything, especially once we start actually playing.

What's Next?

I'm serious, I have no idea but I can't wait to find out! We haven't even started playing yet and that will open up a whole new universe here I'm sure.

Regardless of the future, if you can think of anything cool to add right now let me know. And of course, follow up with any bugs you run into as well.

Sort:

Nice work, but unfortunately the site isn't working for me in the latest version of Chrome, well for only one user.

I attempted to view the Steem Monsters collection of our good uncle @berniesanders here: http://duplibot.com/steemmonsters/@berniesanders and it didn't work. I can see a jQuery plugin error in the console: theDocs.all.min.js:335 Uncaught TypeError: $(...).matchHeight is not a function - debugging this further seems to indicate that for @berniesanders, in particular, the AJAX request is coming back with no cards: {"player":"berniesanders","cards":[]} - however if I look up my own name: http://duplibot.com/steemmonsters/@beggars - it works.

Could this issue be the result of Bernie having too many cards and the request is just timing out server-side and returns zero results? If the code is open sourced somewhere, I would love to jump in and help fix/improve this idea further.

From what I can see, you're making requests to the Steem Monsters domain in the form of: https://steemmonsters.com/cards/collection/beggars and I tried putting Bernie's name there, but nothing comes back.

Upon further investigation, the console issue with the jQuery plugin seems to be happening regardless and isn't breaking the UI.

It's because that account actually has no cards. I just pushed an update so it now says:

No @steemmonsters cards found for...

Bernie has a lot of accounts and if you search the blockchain you'll be sure to figure out which one he buys his @steemmonsters from!

Gotcha. Bernie responded above with the account he buys his cards from. I just assumed based on his posts, in particular, the one where he mentions he has all of the possible cards you can get it was his main account. The ability to filter by rarity type would be a great addition next.

Cool, it's fun to look at his massive collection of cards.

And I'm already looking at adding those filters!

Looks pretty interesting i'll have to check this out :)

Wish I had time to look into this it’s like our own version of crypto kitties but better

Sau gut

I am booking gold dragon i need it the last one card to complete my deck lol. Congrats dude! trying to using this one now.

That was fast! Congratulations on your 250 packs. Totally well-deserved.
It would be nice if you can add the Rarity label beside or below the cards :)

Haha, I looked for it but couldn't find it so if you can find that data please point it out to me!

Way to capitalize on that bounty @blervin and generous of you @berniesanders to offer it in the first place. That's what makes Steemit fun!

Great job!
