Engagement is KEY when attempting to build a community. Contest and giveaways are a tools that promote engagement by usually bringing people together to discuss a particular topic.

The consistency that you guys are posting these giveaways and contest is unmatched in most other communities and that should go a long way towards keeping peoples attention. Providing users the opportunity to build a stable of steemmonsters through giveaways when they may have no other means of doing so (lack of funds) does a good job of including everyone while being sure not to exclude anyone.

Keep up the great work fellas! @dkid14 @shoemanchu

I think it’s a way to give back and get people into the community. I started the foundation of my Steeming account winning giveaways.

Fell in love with it after that and even invested my own money to help my account grow and run my own giveaways :)

Contests/giveaways on Steemit provide a great framework for users to engage with on a regular basis. They also act as a hub of activity around a central topic which is a great way for Steemians to find other users who are interested in the same topic. On a platform, like Steemit - which is a noisy place, this is especially important. Keep up the great work guys. 👍

Contests and Giveaways are very important for the community, especially for those who may not be able to afford to buy the cards they want. Thanks @dosdudes for making it so fun and easy for people to score some bad ass Steem Monsters! :D

In my oppinion Giveaways and Contests bring people to 1 post together.

And giveaways obviously attract people from out of the platfrom.

Good Luck to everyone !

We would like you to post your thoughts in the comment section about contests/giveaways and why it so important for community?

There are some people on Steemit that have not heard about Steemmonsters and contests and giveaways will introduce them to the game. If they start out with some booster packs or rare cards, it will encourage them to buy more, increasing the demand for cards and utilizing STEEM tokens. This is one more reason that STEEM is destined for greatness, it's one of the only cryptos that actually does something. Not only can it be used to increase your 'influence' on social media, it also can be used to purchase Steem Monster cards which is helpful for the game, both for fun and profit. Giveaways and contests just adds fuel to the fire for Steem Monsters.

If STEEM increases in value due to the success of Steem Monsters through contests and giveaways, the entire community will benefit! @ironshield

Contest and giveaways are pretty much a cycle of life when it comes to Steemit in general and to Steem monsters. As someone said of course it's a great way for those starting out to engage with people that have been around a while or to even learn by example some things they can do themselves to help progress in their Steemit journies. If they manage to win something here and there it makes them feel good and encourages them to continue on. It's little things like that, that can make a huge difference in supporting the longevity of this platform. I'm sure most of us have been at a point especially early on where we thought to ourselves is Steemit really worth it, I barely earn anything for all my hard work. But then something happens where you get a little freebie or you get some encouragement from somewhere or learn something new that's exciting and makes you want to keep going.

The first three months I was on Steemit I was making $0.00 to like $0.03 on my posts and wanted to call it quits a few times. But then I won a few things, started to take notes from people that were doing well and here we are about 4-5 months later and I'm doing well and love this platform and will likely use if FOREVER now.

On the other hand, giveaways and contests are also critically important to even the bigger, more experienced folks too because it helps you continue to grow your community of followers and also helps you continue generating more post rewards to buy new cards or conduct other giveaways. Between the initial post of the contest and the results post 7-8 days later, it's essentially two posts for the same contest that you can earn on. So it's a win-win situation for everyone. Plus it's cool to feel like you made someone's day to after they win something from your contests. Something so small can bring so much fulfillment and even make you some new friends in the process.

I like what you guys do, I support it, I'm right there with you guys and even somewhat stole your idea from your dosdudes intro post for the SBI giveaway...sorry...😜, but that shits fun and super worth it.

That is a very deep, philosophical question for the end of the week, haha! Courting followers and building community are two of The 4 Big Cs of Steemit Success, according to a post I've read by @maverickfoo from 5 months ago. I have had this exemplified in a very tangible way more recently by @coruscate. She too runs many competitions with #SteemMonsters cards and/or booster packs as prizes. But like your competition here, Coruscate's recent contests haven't actually been "about" SteemMonsters. While the prizes are still monster-related, the entry requirements for the competition are often more personally revealing and community-building in nature. One of her recent competitions had us posting a little-known fact about ourselves and replying to someone else's entry, while another contest required us to write about how crypto has created more freedom in our lives.

As a relatively new Steemian myself, I relish these opportunities to network and get to know people here on the Steem blockchain. Sure, the Steem ecosystem provides us with the opportunity to earn cryptocurrency, and some people have done very well off of it. But financial wealth should not be the only measure of success we use. This is, after all, a social site, first and foremost, and the intangible benefits which we receive by participating and engaging can be just as real as being able to cash out our crypto earnings to fiat currency. I try to enter as many of these contests as I can, but not just to try to win. I also like to engage with those running the competition, and with the other contestants. Maybe someone that I discuss this competition with might decide from that, to start following my blog?

By keeping people here you are giving the community a chance to develop. Games and contests and giveaways enhance that stickiness. If the people at the top did what you are doing (and many like you in the dolphin on down category), then we would have much better retention. That would make us more robust. And the bigger a social platform is, the better. There needs to be a critical mass and that's exactly why these games and giveaways help spur people to "stick around" and make new friends!

ps... Love steem monsters too, it will be awesome for steem and the platform!

I like your mention of the concept of "stickiness", Dave. I agree, this is something that the whales could practice more often, but many of them are too busy bemoaning the current value of the Steem token and doing the HODL thing to notice that so often it is those of us with the least resources who can so often be the most generous towards others. Unfortunately, that isn't just a cryptocurrency exclusive; it happens in the fiat currency world too. 😠

I agree completely... Some peoples' worlds are distorted and insular... this keeps them from seeing the flaws in their own actions. I am not mad at them, but I do think they will get what they deserve in the long run! ;)

And that is what I like about steem and the monster game, it is sticky if they do it right. And frankly I think they will :D

it raises awareness.
the more people know about it, the more interesting it will get when the tournaments start.
