Steem Monsters will soon become Splinterlands and it totally makes sense.

For those that haven't heard the news, Steem Monsters will soon be re-branded as Splinterlands, as they look to become more of a blockchain game rather than a STEEM game.

But Why?

Well, in their recent announcement discussing the potential marketing to the TRON crowd, it was decided that STEEM wasn't generic enough.

And let's face it. STEAM (spelt with an 'A') actually has digital trading cards as well so eventually the mainstream peeps might get a little confused anyway.

Splinterlands is a much more sensible name for the brand.

Now I'm not going to say much on the Tron venture, as plenty has been hyped about it already.

But, by the way people are already getting sucked into the FOMO I suspect more than 80% of sales will be snapped up by existing STEEM Monsters fans anyway.

So the potential to advertise to a different market may be more limited than we're hoping for. (SM are limiting the fundraising to 5,000,000 TRX tokens, which is about 60-70K beta packs)

However, there is a second campaign planned but don't be surprised if it's much more of the same once the cards are revealed and people scramble to level up.

Anyway, let's see how this all plays out on the 15th April.

I could be wrong.

Although, history suggests I might be right. (Remember the FOMO around Alpha pack sales and how the last 60K packs disappeared in a snap)
