Just a down and dirty notes taking by @monsterworld for the @steemmonsters "StatChat" show which was hosted by @aggroed.

Notes taken by @jarvie (they are not official notes and you are encouraged to listen to the show and listen to the founder himself these notes are 2nd hand info)

SHOW NOTES of MINNOW MAYOR TOWN HALL

First 25 minutes were other show discussions not related to SteemMonsters
First some discussion about Steem Economics and then some other guests who are doing cool stuff on Steemit.

STORY WRITING SHOW REVIEW

Starting at minute 28

  • there was a writers show last night
  • Reviewed the auction for boss fight and how a few more people are going to be inserted into the story line.
  • They're looking for more people to join in the storyline and be a part of the story.
  • Also the money helps the growth of the game itself ... boss fights is a great way.
    (BTW @monsterworld may be interested in this... we'll see)
  • The lore / storyline is gonna be community driven
  • There will be teams of writers for each Color/Splinter
  • Here's the basics of the game and story in this document by @aggroed

  • Then another document called the "Steem Monsters Splinter Template" which kinda gives a basic knowledge of how the realms/splinters interact with eachother and just lots of basic details of each group.
  • These documents will help steemmonsters build cohesive stories. This will help organize the process of story writing for steemmonsters.
  • We have different stories and content than Dungeons and Dragons but we will have similar ways of building campaigns and what type of content is in those campaigns.
    -SideNote: Goblins will likely be the "SteamPunk" type characters.

  • Items are not out right now
  • For example flying wings... maybe bought from those SteamPunk goblins.

RANDOM QUESTIONS/TOPICS

:43 Will it be on GITHUB? @yabapmatt is not on the show and he will make a lot of this decision but it's not likely for a little while until it's out of alpha maybe not until it's out of beta.
:44 Licence? Non-Commercial Licence right now ... just don't sell stuff. But more will come out in regards to this... talk to @steemmonsters
:47 Steemmonsters has been doing every pack purchase on the blockchain. They are using packs to help the project with contests. Inflation because of this is between 5-10%
:49 onboarding people onto steemit with USD purchases leads to some crazy unknown rules or money exchange licences they're just not sure about yet. But they're looking to get others to create APIs to help onboard people into steemit through steemmonsters.

:52 They're working to grow steemit, the values of Peace, Abundance and Liberty
Also looking to help retain people on the Steem platform
:54 The market they will create a system that makes a bit of money that helps maintain tournament pools... however it won't stop others from doing trading and sales on their own. It's just gonna be an easy thing for people to use.

STEEM STATS

:56 Keep in mind some of this stuff may change

  • Summoners will have a mana pool.
  • Higher the summoner and their levels the better the mana pool
  • Each of the splinters/colors will have different types of play style.
    Check this document
  • There are a few classes of characters Tanks, Healers, DPS types, Assassins
  • Summoners role is just to summon and buff the monsters that have been summoned.
  • White example a white team summoner is focused on healing their monsters.
  • Assassin class of characters is unique compared to many similar games.They'll be best at attacking the BackLine.

MORE STORYLINE and GAMEPLAY STUFF

-1:03 This is not a turn by turn game it's a drafting game

  • Being a drafting game it's more strategic
  • 1:04 Overarching storyline of the game says that the splintered world will one day be whole again.
  • Season one will explore the splinters
  • Types of fight PVP, dailies, guild fights, guild vs guild, campaign mode, big tournaments, guild PVE
  • Lots of different types of fighting opportunities

BACK TO STATS

  • Each color is strong against someone and week against someone ... except gold.
  • Leveling, Rarity and Mana Cost
  • Max Level, Max Mana, Max rarity is the most powerful thing in the game. (not undefeatable)
    It will also cost for that thing.
  • Skill points may change presently
    -- rare is 10% better Epic 20% better and Legend 30%
    -- epic is 9% better than rare, and legend 18%
    -- Legend is 8% better than legend
  • Each level goes up 10%
  • You can get better by all three of those things Level, Rarity and Mana
  • 1:15 don't get hung up on the numbers they can change. But keep in mind those 3 things.

STATS OVERVIEW
1:15

  • Attack, Magic, armor, Health, Speed
  • Armor cuts down damage and then goes to health... it's protection against physical attack (not magic attacks)
  • Speed determines who goes first and how likely it's to hit
  • Level, Rarity and Mana cost increases these stats.

ABILITIES
1:18 (you'll want to watch because he goes through each of these abilities... i'll just list them)

  • First strike
  • Flying
  • Trample (carry over damage)
  • Heal (heal some of the health)
  • Group Heal
  • Void (reduce magic attack)
  • Sheild
  • Dodge
  • Poison
  • Slow
  • rejuvination
  • Swipe
  • blast
  • inspire
  • protect
  • fear
  • retaliate
  • range
  • sneak

Some of these abilities happen when you level up

RANDOM GAMEPLAY SUBJECTS

1:25 If you have several fights that day you'll likely not be able to re-use cards that day.
Aka you have lots of fights that day so you need to think about who to use and not just play your best always.

  • Dailies will be easy enough you won't need your best stuff.
    1:28 (some examples of fighting styles week by week)
  • If red does really well one week then the color really good against it may be played more often
    However some will think one step ahead and play the color that plays against the color that plays good against red. And on and on!

1:31 there can be external influences because of game creators aka DEBUFFS it could be part of storyline and change the META of the game. There are rules for each fight.

AUDIENCE QUESTION
1:36 Aggroed asks a question for the audience if they want to use low or high points for stats

Personally i think people should go to aggroed and tell them they prefer Higher Points and no Decimal points becuase 5 people on the chat during the show were making him rethink his stance and go with lower points because of their mistaken belief it will simplify the game... there is no reason to believe it will do that. Higher points could be easier and allows for more nuance to the point system.

  • Also there can be multiple winners 1st, 2nd 3rd etc

BENEFITS FOR EARLY ADOPTERS

I asked a question what does @aggroed think are the benefits to those who join NOW as opposed to later when game play starts to get ready.

  • You have the ability to be built into the game through investment or achievements
  • Have more time to understand the game, therefore do better
  • those who bought before earlier this week got legendaries at almost 40% better drop rate
  • CoCreate the experience with the creators we have input

Later in the show he does mention that economic value through increase of rarity is on the table but will think about it later.

The show conversation just kinda started to be chit chat but sometimes that can be the most fun so you can go listen. We talk about how @thomasg has maxed everything.

Around that point i stopped keeping notes but I advise you guys to go listen to the show... notes are just notes they are 2nd person information... go get it from the horses mouth. Also anyone who listened feel free to correct or expand on a nuance about what was talked about.

Will the cards be limited to a set/block like MTG? Increasing long term collectible values for earlier sets as well as creating scarcity for older cards? Or will each set/block merge into the last. (for example: Like MTG vs Hearthstone)

Will cards that have been leveled and gained experience remain with those experience points when sold/traded or will they need to be retrained by the new user? In other words will you be able to buy and sell maxed out cards?

It looks like maxed out cards are being traded already.

Great notes. Much appreciated. I have only ever played Dungeons and Dragons many many years ago. Lots of rolling of dice and reading about the special powers of interesting charachters like the Gluttonous Cube. I remember that it was forbidden by the Catholic Church at the time which made all of us want to play it.

where do I find the document /excel spreadsheet with the abilities? stats and points

it's not available to the public because it contains a lot of other more sensitive data he has said in other sheets. Plus i'm sure right now it's changing way too much to put out there in public.
