Steem Monsters Success and Happy New Year For 2019!

in #steemmonsters5 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone! This blog is approaching its deathbed at the moment, as it has been almost a month since I have posted anything and have only posted a few times in the last two months or so. So I thought I would resuscitate it and bring it back to life (at least for a short period). What better time to choose than the coming of the new year….So happy new year to you all, and I hope you all enjoyed the holiday season with your loved ones!

I definitely enjoyed the holidays’ way too much from different perspectives. Too much food and drink, as well as too much time spent with family. You heard that right! Too much time with family! There is such a thing:) There is only so much you have to say to each other, until you get on each other’s nerves lol…

Anyway, back to the blog and steem. Even though my blogging is on hiatus and I don’t seem to be around much these days, I am still quietly following things in the background and throwing out my usual votes and the occasional comment, while spending most of my 'steem time' playing steem monsters. Yep, I got the monster bug. So most of the free time that I would have spent blogging, is now spent battling it out in splinter land.

Most of the early time spent playing, was to complete daily quests to help earn rewards in the form of booster packs and the now revamped daily rewards. Currently, I’m spending more time building my deck to a level where I hope to be competitive in variety of levels, in tournament play. I’m also concentrating on learning and working on more strategies by watching some of the best players in action to learn techniques to combat the tournament minefield (one loss and you’re out!), as well as play the season games to most importantly improve my skill level, thanks to some steem friends who helped me get there. I think I have slowly and methodically improved to work my way to a somewhat competent level of play. Of course this mostly depends on the level of deck you are playing, and the opposition you face consistently. The higher the deck, the more competent the opposition will be and the more complex the game becomes – but the easier it becomes to see and understand the Intricacies of the game itself by unlocking the extra abilities of the cards and how they complement each other. I can foresee some exciting changes and new implementations in the near future which will make steem monsters even more popular and at the same time even more challenging and appealing to a wider audience and player base.

Everyone is really looking forward to the upcoming announcements and the official release of the tournament schedule. There are currently quite a few ‘unofficial’ tournaments being played as a pre-cursor to the official tournament schedule, to be released very soon.

I have participated in a few myself, including the biggest one so far - The Bernie Sanders New Year’s Invitational! Well, to my surprise (and a few others probably) I managed to finish in a tie for 13th place. This was an amazing result for me, in a field of over 200 players. The tournament structure payed out to the top 15 finishers, which meant I finished in the money…..

Well, not that kind of money – but steem money.

So you can imagine that this result gave me a confidence boost and belief in myself. As a result, I played a few more tournaments and only a day or two later I actually won my first tournament in a field of about 40 players….Now that was exciting!

I have also recently started to improve my season game results and am currently sitting in the top 50 players as of writing this post (can only go downhill from here lol).

Hah, you just had to add that screenshot of you beating my rank in the seasonal game 😝. You’ve had lots more successes that I’ve had with the tourneys. I can’t wait for it to be automated. These tourneys take too much time. Good job on the wins and on posting. I need to get a post out too......

Of course I did...that was the only reason for posting that screenshot - Just to piss you off😂😂😂 And it worked!

I hope I didn't crush your head by sitting on it 😛

Congratulations on your top 20 finish last season, and I hope you get a big tournament success very soon! 😜

Top 20 doesn't give one anything except for bragging rights. I'm happy just to be able to maximum cards possible in my DQ.

Pshh, go ahead and feed that ego of yours. :p

Agree...and here you are bragging lol! If you ever need any advice on how to 'win' a tournament, you know where to find me...😛
