9 legendary Steemmonsters - should I sell them? Some stats. 5 booster packs give-away
Hello everyone,
I consider myself a rational person who spends his money wisely - but two days ago I discovered Steemmonsters, and it got me addicted immediately. And the best is - I think that it is actually a great investment: not because I am convinced that the cards will appreciate massively in value (which I hope they will do) but because it shows so well what the Steem blockchain is capable of. And I am also sure that it will bring a lot of creative people to think... we could do something on Steem as well - and this is what in end creates value. Supporting Steemmonsters is thus an act of nurturing my investment in Steem Power...
Nonetheless, it is draining quite a bit of money and I am thus thinking of selling some of my most valuable legendaries to generate some fresh cash. At the moment I have the following legendaries:
Elemental Phoenix (2)
Frost Giant (2)
Lightning Dragon (2)
Chromatic Dragon (2)
...and not to forget my beloved Selenia Sky
What do you think should I sell them? If yes, doing this on @steembay would probably be a great idea as it also shows what else can be done on Steem.
So far I have collected a total of 600 cars and bough another 18 on the discord channel. After combining some together I have now 599 cards.
To give you an idea of how big the chances are that you pick a legendary card here are some stats:
Commons (67%)
Rare (27%)
Epic (4.2%)
Legendary (1.5%)
So on average you will need to buy at least 13 booster packs to get you first Legendary. Initially my ratio of legendaries was higher - I do not know if the likelyhood has decreased over time. Might also just be a statistical effect. You can see my collection here:

Congrats on those legendary cards. The game can be quite addicting. I’ve never been into games or card collecting, but as like you, bought some to show support to the creators. Plus, I do see this game taking off on the blockchain.
For many new users, it really is hard to justify spending the time to write a good post when no one will stop by to read. Steem Monsters will be another means of engaging and connecting with the community while still earning.
I bought several packs and said I was going to have my kiddo open one pack a day. LOL, I should never have opened just one pack yesterday. Ended up going through all but two packs. I will keep the promise to have my kiddo open at least one of them for me. 😉
Edited: I did read some of the technical specs chat. I believe a different random card generator logic was put into place. As like you, I got my one and only legendary quite fast early on the game. Perhaps the logic was updated soon after because all the recent booster packs I bought a few days ago and opened last night returned subpar cards. It seems harder now to get the legendary ones.

How much are they? Pokemon cars are 5 Euro for a pack of 5 here in Germany...
I thought about buying one pack, but ended up buying about 30 pack. I was lucky to get some Legendary and Epic Cards.

This is a pretty nice collection - 4 legendaries out of a total of 30 packs is far better than my ratio!

I can't afford to open many packs
but i got 33 monsters
I am not really greedy so i am looking to get my first epic soon.
My favourite card is the Lightning Dragon.
If i get that then I would be so so happy it can't be described with words, also I can't wait for the tournaments to start happening, and i am really looking forward to them adding a regular fighting between players and add something like steemit has with steem power
, so people can't farm xp fighting eachother
There will be other ways to improve you XP than just spending money. Have fun with the game and all the best!

Cool - i wanted to stay away from silly games but no chance - am also addicted now - i need two legendary cards still - The Giant Frost and Golden Dragon - I might buy some more packs - how much did you invest yet?
So far I have spent about 150 Steem. But don't tell my wife ;-) I am missing 4 cards
This game is just crazy addictive! Currently, I am trying to finish my collection of all alpha cards, but I am missing 6 epics and 8 legendaries.
