Más allá del árbol

~

English Version:

Beyond the tree

~

Daniel was always a very curious person. As a child he used to spend a lot of time in the forest observing each of the animals that lived there. The way in which they lived together, and their tragic deaths resulting from the hunt from the strongest to the weakest, or less adapted, attracted his attention. The life in the forest allowed to observe a great amount of details that often go unnoticed when we are in it. The forest keeps its most incredible phenomena only for those who truly understand the dynamics of the ecosystem.

Some time later, when Daniel was a teenager, he decided to enroll in his city's school of explorers. Their activities were simple, they had to make some excursions, camp one night in the forest or simply identify the different forms of leaves that coexist in that landscape. Daniel felt in his place, he loved to know more and more about the functioning of that place, which although it seems governed by spontaneity, encompasses a large number of theoretical postulates that seek to explain the behavior of the species, its environment and the relationship that unites it beyond the physical.

From the time of high school, Daniel knew that he would not continue his studies at the university, he thought that this place so academic and of great universal renown, was valid for certain people, but not necessarily everyone who wants to be happy with what he is passionate about, must obtain a high level degree. However, he enjoyed readings related to evolution, ecosystems, species and their most current taxonomies, the morphology of birds, the anatomical description of certain mammals, among other very related readings.

Definitely, the study of that old and lonely forest of his city had become Daniel's great passion. The problem began when he argued strongly with his father and he decided to stop supporting him financially. At that moment Daniel not only realized how important his entrance to college was to his father (who from the moment Daniel was born, dreamed of seeing his son be an excellent and experienced airplane pilot), but also his accumulated inability to survive. He was incapable of generating economic income, because the only thing he knew how to do, according to him, was to contemplate and try to study the pure and genuine nature of a forest not very attractive to tourists.

Amidst despair and frustration, Daniel was severely depressed. He could not understand how it was possible that he, seeing dozens of species being born, growing, developing, reproducing and dying, was not able to survive like any other human. If there was one thing that had become clear to him after these years of reading, it was that evolution was not a step that was taken or not, it was a continuum of changes that required any individual to adapt more and better to a characteristic environment and if this did not happen, the punishment would be the maximum, and the maximum should not refer in the first instance to death, but to the extinction of the species.

Daniel felt unable to survive by his own means, the outside environment was demanding it, and he saw no possible solution. He believed that his inability to adapt to today's social environment was going to end up at some point causing the extinction of the human being forever.

That day he decided to move to his comfort zone, to the forest, where he spent much of his childhood and youth, where he sat down to reflect on his current problems, where he got the most genuine company he had ever had with a human being, where he worked so hard to understand the biological gears that unite all the elements of the ecosystem.

The first day was difficult, no matter how much he read about it, the excursions he had had lasted only a few days, unlike him, who now lives there. Even so, he was very happy and excited to find some way to survive without having to comply with his father's impositions.

The months passed and Daniel saw himself less and less in the streets and corridors of the city, it seemed that he was traveling, but no, he was still in the forest, some suction and insolation, but quiet from being alive. Among the characteristics of the forest is the high fertility of its soils. Daniel not only made innovations, but also used the land to plant certain foods and other plants of interest.

In one of those days, Daniel decides to ingest the extract of one of those plants, what he didn't know was that this type of plants produces inside some chemical products that produce hallucination to whoever consumes it.

Daniel managed to see many images, especially highly geometric and geometric, notably, was ingesting an alkaloid or some compound capable of altering his vision of reality. Daniel believed that he was walking on thousands of vis suspended in the sky, and that in each one of them there were certain holes that allowed him to jump from one way to another.

The truth is that Daniel was increasingly isolated from society and his family. The consumption of hallucinogens, ended with his ability to analyze and sense when making decisions. It is said that Daniel never left the forest again, he achieved what he wanted, to become a self-sustainable element within the ecosystem that he liked so much as a child. Some legends say that Daniel has gradually become a great tree, that his excessive use of hallucinogens and closeness to the material world of the forest, had caused strange behaviors in him. It is said that now it is a mostro covered with leaves and insects, that dedicates to take care with its life to the only space that never abandoned it.
