THE USE OF DYSPHEMISM IN YOUNGERS EASTERN OF VENEZUELA (Part.I)

  As each city in Venezuela has its own identity, it is natural that its inhabitants also have a particular way of speaking which reflects their way of life and their culture. The Eastern Venezuelan speech is easily recognized by the transliteration of / l / in / r /, and others peculiarities (When they use the spanish word "Oriental" they probably pronounciate it like "Orienta-" or "Orientar"). Usually a very familiar phrase is “Mijo” which means "my son".  

 
Eastern Venezuelan speaker use everyday a variety of expressions that in linguistic terms are taboo. The taboo includes those words that somehow are considered distasteful to refer to crude realities, vulgarity or those when they try to evade situations. These terms refer to sexual issues, religion, daily needs such as defecating or urinating, etc. Also eastern people in their daily routines use those expressions to keep in touch with their families, citizen and every one in an informal interaction. In addition to the taboo, two terms emerge. The euphemism that is responsible for camouflaging a reality that avoids mentioning. Instead of "fucking" or "fornicating" "making love" is used; of "cock" or "pussy", "intimate parts"; and the dysphemism that is to use derogatory or negative expressions to describe people, things, facts, etc. It's about ridiculing what is named and there may be a humorous tone: poetastro, cacharro (to refer to a luxury car), etc.


 

 
The dysphemism are those exaggerate words that people use to be accepted, to be friendly and it could be used to change the daily situations in a funny way. But those expressions used by eastern people lack of education, black humor or to be less unfriendly when they keep in touch every day and that could lead to problems affecting the interactional communication of people. The interactional theory is the process of communication. It uses a series of steps to transmit information or messages from one person to another. This Verbal interaction is could be focused on the image we talk and act always thinking about how this may or may not affect. If we act in a courteous way, we always do it with the purpose of protecting the interlocutor's image and our own. That image that is put into play at the moment of interaction is the "public image that the individual claims for himself" and constitutes two complementary aspects called negative image and positive image.


 

 

The use of dysphemism represents a challenge for Youngers speakers. Does the dysphemism represent the same challenge for Youngers speakers who are in others cities in Venezuela? As young eastern speakers, this question is so important. In theory, eastern native speakers are used to make use of the dysphemism in an easy way, but they do it unconsciously because eastern Venezuelan Spanish. It would be interesting to see how they recognize it and use it. In order to find this out, we have decided to study Youngers speakers eastern of Venezuela. Youngers speakers of eastern of Venezuela have the ideal age to know how they use dysphemism. In this region they are required to handle the varieties of dysphemism that they use all the time.
