An outtake from the June 13, 1938 feature "$1,500,000 WORTH OF DOGS HAVE THEIR DAY AT BIGGEST U.S. SHOW" - 80 years ago this week. According to LIFE, "On May 28 at Madison, N.J., 4,213 show dogs worth an estimated $1,500,000 were gathered to compete for $20,000 in prizes at the Morris & Essex Show, biggest outdoor dog exhibit in the World, topped indoors only by Cruft's of London. The place was the 3,000-acre estate of America's No. 1 dog-lover, Mrs. M. Hartley Dodge, neice of the late John D. Rockefeller Sr." (Alfred Eisenstaedt—The LIFE Picture Collection/Getty Images) #thisweekinLIFE #dogsofinstagram
