Fruit provides us vitamins, minerals, enzymes and much more. However, fruits are also rich in fructose. So are they really unhealthy? Are you wondering How much fruit a day is healthy? Let's Find out:

As a child, we have already learned that Fruit is healthy. Fruit is natural and provides valuable nutrients such as vitamins and minerals. Nevertheless, every now and then we also keep hearing things that dispute the health factor of fruits.

For eg: fruit contains too much fructose or fruit leads to fatty liver or fruit favors diabetes or even something like fruit makes you fat. So how much fruit is still healthy then?

First of all No, we were not misled in kindergarten and school. Fruit is full of vital nutrients and is, therefore, is an important part of a balanced and healthy diet plan.

Among other things, our body needs vitamins, minerals, trace elements, fiber, phytochemicals and enzymes to maintain its health and functioning. Fiber and phytochemicals are found almost exclusively in plant foods, including fruits.

How Much Fruit You Should eat in One day?


The Society for Nutrition recommends "5 a day" for daily fruit and vegetable consumption. This refers to five portions of fruit and vegetables together

which are subdivided into three portions of vegetables and two portions of fruit

The two portions of fruit yield about 250 grams. An even better measure, however, is your own hand: a handful is equivalent to about a portion of fruit.

Here are some example of a portion of fruit:

  • 1 apple
  • 1 pear
  • 2 to 3 plums
  • 1 orange
  • 1 handful of grapes
  • 1 peach
  • 1 banana
  • 1 handful of berries
  • 2 to 3 apricots
  • Dried plums or 4 dried apricots
  • Glass of fruit juice (100% natural fruit content)
  • 1 smoothie (natural)
However, keep in mind that the sugar content of dried fruits is higher than that of fresh fruit.

Fruit is therefore very healthy and an important part of a balanced diet - as long as you do not suffer from fructose intolerance. As far as fructose is concerned, it is better to reduce the consumption of soft drinks and sweets instead of completely not eating fruits.

The harmful effects occur only with a larger intake of fruits over a longer period. So make sure that your fruit consumption is modest.

Fruit is not bad for you. I eat fruit all day long. ALL DAY.

Every morning I drink a smoothie that is filled with 7-8 bananas and loaded with dates. I eat any type of fruit I can get my hands on throughout the day then eat cooked starches at night time.

I love my carbs and I am real lean and fit and keep in mind I smash in the carbs every day. No calorie restriction here. Keep eating fruit!!! Your body will thank you.
