Job Promotion. Sounds good, right? Of course, who wouldn't want to get promoted? From being a regular employee who's usually bossed around, you're offered with a life-changing opportunity to step up your career and take it to the next level. It's kind of surreal especially when you look back on the days when you couldn't even do your job properly and you were still familiarizing the drill. But you've always worked hard with a goal to, hopefully, get a higher position. I bet most of your workmates are also aiming for a job promtion. Most of them are because a higher position means a bigger opportunity, more power and, yeah, bigger salary.

Sadly, some people gets promoted because of their connections to the company. That's a sad truth that is hard to control. Of course we couldn't interfere with your boss' decisions. But, hey, things aren't always like that. A lot of people gets promoted because they truly deserved it. They have done an excellent job and the higher managerment thinks that their capabilities would help the company even better. They are an asset and a higher position would help them unleash their full potential that could help both the company and the employee.

Some people finds it hard to accept a promotion no matter how appealing it is. Why? Maybe because they're afraid to get out of their comfort zone especially if they're already familiar with their job that they can even do it even with their eyes closed. Or maybe they're too afraid to get more stressed or pressured. Of course, a higher position requires more effort and would demand a lot from you as an employee. But, personally, not all promotions can help you. You have to be really careful about accepting promotions. Don't get too excited and don't grab it immediately. Take your time. Think about it thoroughly.

First of all, ask yourself, how would it help you professionally? Would you learn new things from that promotion? Another thing, and maybe the most important thing if we're being practical here, is the salary. How much are they willing to pay you for an additional stress and responsibilities? Try to compare it with your current salary and see the difference. They could offer you a higher amount but is it enough to compensate for your new tasks? Having a huge amount salary doesn't necessarily mean you're not underpaid. If you think that the offer isn't big enough for the kind of effort that you'd need to exert for the job, then think twice.

A job promotion is a career growth that's why you have to make sure that it's really helping you grow professionally. Make sure that's the case or you'll regret it. After analyzing things and maybe doing some research and you found the job promotion to be a big help to you, then it's time to say the magic word: "YES." Don't be afraid to take some risks and step up your game. Trust yourself. You wouldn't know how far can you go if you wouldn't step out of your comfort zone and explore your potentials.

You can do it. You can really do it.
