Ensuring a quiet atmosphere in the classroom is essential so that children's learning develops in the right conditions. However, it is very common for problematic children to treat their classmates or even their teacher and turn the class into a place where fear dominates. Today I offer you some tips to know how to deal with these problematic children in class.

The teacher who lives this situation must see from the beginning of the course the importance of education and respect among students and, otherwise, we must take action against the problem child.

Tips for dealing with problem children in class

When the teacher finds a problematic student who does not allow him to develop the classes with a normal course, I recommend taking into account the following tips:

  • You must know perfectly the protocol that governs the school to know how to act in cases of this type, since each school is different.

  • From the first day you teach classes you should make clear in the classroom the importance of respect. Students should know that they have to respect you and the rest of their classmates and this is the most important rule of all.

  • Awareness to your students of the importance of respect and education. Send exercises that have to do with these concepts. For example, you can ask them to write a list of appropriate behaviors, which ones require disciplinary action and decide an appropriate punishment for each offense. This list, drawn up by everyone, can be present in the classroom.

  • When a student offends in class you can ask them to leave the classroom and wait in the hallway if their behavior is annoying or they are not respecting others. Follow the normal class pace and when you have finished, go out into the hall and ask the student why he thinks you asked him to leave. Discuss why the behavior is inappropriate guiding your answer with questions. Once you see that the student understands what you are saying, it is time to return to your seat.

  • If the offensive behavior in the classroom persists, then it is time to take action at a higher level. Call the parents or guardians of the child by phone so that they know what is happening, because as you know, education depends directly on what the children receive at home. Therefore, it is time to establish a day to meet with the parents of the child who has inappropriate behavior in class.

  • In the same way, you can also refer the student to the disciplinary personnel in your school in the event that their offenses persist in class. This staff is specialized in proceeding in the event that a bad behavior is continuous and they work directly with the student to see and analyze their case, and be able to improve their attitude.

The fact that a single child has an erratic behavior in the classroom is an element of distraction for all others, it is essential that in a classroom persist good behavior, concentration and that children are censored in the class of so that they are attentive and motivated to learn. I hope that these recommendations have been useful and that they can help you solve these types of problems.
