The Story of the Broken Glass — A Powerful Story of Restoration
There was once a simple and beautiful water glass in a mall stall. She was so glad everytime she hears women or mothers approaching near their area. Every single day, she keeps on waiting for the one who will adopt her, who will treat her like a child, who will wash her every after fulfilling her duty, who will keep her properly, and most especially who will appreciate her existence and purpose.
Until one afternoon, a mother bought her. It was her happiest day ever.
She was so glad seeing her new home. She saw the mother’shusband and their three daughters and they look so cute. The mother placed her immediately in her new room (glass cabinet) with extra care. In her new room, she met different water glasses and they all look beautiful. There, she found true friends and a new family.
She performed so well in her duty as a water glass. She always makes sure that she embraces the hands of the one who is using her as she feels its warm embrace. Everytime that each of the family member has finished drinking the water that she had she always feels accomplished and fulfilled. It was indeed overwhelming to her when she see them happy with her service. She also loves the bathe she receives every after serving the family. She felt relax after every bathe and this gives her a good siesta in her room.
Though she is already happy, contented and fulfilled, there are times that she wanted to give up because of the different struggles she had faced. She experienced being threatened and played by rats and insects, she experienced sleepless nights and less siesta during the day because of rendering her duties, there are times that she wasn’t able to take a bath the whole day, and many more.
However, she needs to keep going to fulfill her purpose. She keeps on reminding herself to still be happy.
She has been part of the family for more than fifteen years already and because of this she felt like she is being attached to them. She even quoted herself as an “unseen child”.
She knew that they love her and she loves them. She thought that it would be forever.
Until one day, she slipped off from the hand of the youngest daughter. In a split of a second, she went all the way down to the floor and she had seen herself broken. She thought that they will help her but they didn’t. Instead, after some minutes she found herself in the trash can outside the house.
She’s crying, broken, lost and alone. She has done everything but after a single mistake she felt she lost the love. She felt, she lost her life.
After three days, a young scavenger boy approached the trash can and he found her. She didn’t expect what happened next. Are you excited to know?
The boy takes all her broken pieces. He carefully puts all of it insidea plastic bag he is holding. She knew she will be thrown on the dumpsite together with other trashes. But to her surprise, the boy went to a certain place and got some stuffs and he fixed her carefully.
While fixing her, she heard him saying, “You will be restored, you will become new, you’ll fulfill another purpose”.
It was not an overnight process. It took the boy more than a week to finish her. Making sure that she can already carry water not as a glass but as a recycled flower vase.
She thought that he will keep her with him but she was wrong. The boy returned her to her home without anything in return. The mother was surprised seeing her, and on that day she knew she’ll fulfill another purpose to this family.
As the mother bids goodbye to the little boy, she whispered her gratitude to the wind for him.

Hello there friends! This is Ken and today we will talk about restoration. Restoration means bringing back, repairing, or renovating something. But why did I use the story of the broken glass here?
Let me now relate the story to our own life.
Say hello to your past self right now!
Maybe you are happy with your life right now because you are already a restored or renewed individual but you know what, we still have many friends out there who miss their past self and I am referring to your friend who are feeling broken and lost today and maybe it’s also you.
Like the water glass you were once so beautiful, talented, skilled, happy, overwhelmed, cared, and loved by the people whom you loved the most. You’ve become contented by what you have. You had felt the love of your girlfriend/boyfriend, husband/wife, friends and/family until everything has gone.
You have many assignments and projects in school or you have many undone paper works in your office but you should not stop and that is why, you’ve spent sleepless nights just to accomplished everything. You are already tired with the pressures in your studies and or with your job and too many sideline jobs but your family still didn’t knew about it. It feels like you’re fighting alone.
You have done your best but still your best is not enough.
Every single day, you let other people see that you are happy eventhough you are not already happy inside.
You are unseen, unacknowledged and unappreciated.
Until one day, you’ve found yourself broken. You’re crying for a no reason. You are feeling empty.
Are you this kind of person right now?
No one can ever tell you that you are empty but only YOU.
Acknowledge that emptiness, and you know what? It’s okey to cry. Just cry to let it go and after you cry always remember that there is someone who is willing to help and restore you.
It’s not your family nor your friends. It was that same little boy who have helped the broken glass and in our life, it’s Jesus. Honestly, I am still in the process of knowing Jesus deeper but one thing that I am sure about Him is that: He was holding my hands when I was once a broken glass.
Imagine this, you are a broken glass on a trash can, useless, and harmful BUT STILL HE PICKS YOU UP TO RESTORE YOU. He is willing to take the risk in holding your broken pieces just to heal you. He is willing to spend His precious time just for you. He is willing to be like a scavenger just to found a broken person like you. BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU SO MUCH.
HE EVEN DIED FOR YOU.
Talk to Him in prayer because every prayer is powerful. Be true to Him that you are weak and He’ll give you strength. Be honest that you are tired and He’ll give you rest. Share that you are broken and He’ll be with you until He’s done fixing you. And if until now you can’t still control yourself and the situation that you are having, let Him take over.
Believe, be faithful, and be full of faith and He will restore you.
What is the purpose of these struggles?
No man can ever tell His purpose of your struggles but I am 100% sure that it will all help in bringing out the best in you. If you have praise Him in every success that you have achieved in your life before it’s also our responsibility to praise Him in every trials that we are facing right now.
At the end of the day it’s not only you who is like the broken glass. It’s all of us. We were once like a broken glass but we always receive restoration because of Jesus our Lord.
After being broken for so many years He’ll restore us in His time. In His perfect time we will be restored, renewed and renovated to fulfill another purpose to our family, friends, and to the society as a whole.
