Beginnings of cricket in India

In 1600, the East India Company came to India, which was also called "John Company" in colloquial language at that time. Gradually, the East India Company came down to business, but the revolt of 1857 ended the East India Company, but before leaving, he left his game in cricket. At that time cricket was played only for hobbies, which English played with great passion. Where the East India Company gave a demonstration on the occasion, leaving the impression of cricket. At that time he played mainly cricket in Madras, Bombay and Calcutta, where cricket was becoming popular even in the local public.

The first proof of East India Company's cricket play was played in Cambay, near the Baroda in 1721. In 1792 the Calcutta Cricket and Football Club were formed in India. After defeating Tipu Sultan in Sringapatanam of Southern India in 1799, he also created a cricket vault. First class cricket started in India in 1864, which was played between the Madras Club and the Calcutta Club by the British. After this, for the first time in 1889-90, the English team played for India, which was also called the first class cricket. Since then, the English played many first-class cricket matches in India. For the first time in India in the 1880, India had gone twice to play.

First Indian cricketer - Kumar Shree Ranjeet Singh

The first cricket player in India was Kumar Shree Ranjeet Singh who played for England in cricket. Kumar Shree Ranjeet Singh, whom all English players loved by calling Ranji name was considered one of cricket's great batsmen, whose aggressive batting would have lost the opposition team. Ranji was a master in "Let Cut" who also invented "leg glance". In 1896, he played the first match against England. In his first Test he made 62 runs in the first innings and 154 runs in the second innings, in his cricket career, he scored 989 runs in 15 Test matches and 24,692 runs in 307 first-class matches.

After Ranji,his nephew Kuldeep Singh also had the opportunity to play on behalf of the British. Kuldeep Singh was also a great batsman to play against spin bowling and he also had several cricket strokes. Like his uncle, he also scored a hundred in his Test debut and scored runs at an average of 58.5. In this way, he scored 994 runs in 12 Test matches and scored 15485 runs in 205 first-class matches.

First Test Cricket of India

India played their first Test match in 1932, which they played against England. Naidu is known as the first captain of the Indian team. India did well in this match but did not win. At that time the test used to be three days. England first scored 259 runs in which M. Nisar took 5 wickets for India. In reply, the Indian team was reduced to 189 with captain Naidu scoring the most runs in 40 balls. In the second innings, England scored 275 runs and thus India scored a target of 346 for victory but India were all out for 187 in the second innings. India thus lost by 158 runs.

First Test Victory for India

India got the first Test win after Independence when India won the match against England in Madras in 1952. India had won in his first Test series this year, which he had won against India, Pakistan. In 1956, India registered a series 2-0 in a series against New Zealand in the 5 Test matches. Apart from these few matches, the performance of India in the 1950s was not much better and many Test series lost.

The Indian cricket team began to improve in the 1960 and won the first series win against England in 1961-62. The Indian team made the first win on foreign soil against New Zealand in 1967. In 1970, Sunil Gavaskar, in the reins of the Indian team, won the first Test against the West Indies. After that in the '80s, the likes of Azharuddin, Ravi Shastri, Sanjay Manjrekar, Kris Srikanth and Kapil Dev emerged victorious who gave India victory in the 1983 World Cup. Sunil Gavaskar became the first Indian to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket, who had scored 34 centuries in his name. Kapil Dev emerged as India's first successful all-rounder, who became the world's highest wicket-taker with 434 wickets at that time.

Players like Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kumble emerged in the 90s, due to which both the batting and bowling of the Indian team improved. Sachin Tendulkar is considered to be the God of Indian cricket team who has won India in many matches. Md Azharuddin had won many matches by winning captaincy. In his captaincy, India did not lose at home but his performance abroad was not much better. In the 1999 World Cup, Team Azharuddin had to quit captaincy and he was banned for his involvement in match-fixing. After that Sourav Ganguly took over the captaincy of the team.

Ganguly also won India in many matches. India lost in the 2003 World Cup after reaching the finals. In the last days of Ganguly's career, due to poor performance, captaincy was left and Rahul Dravid took over the captaincy. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who represented India's victory in the T20 World Cup, was later made the captain of all three categories of cricket. Thanks to India's victory in the 2011 World Cup. At this time the young Virat Kohli has been made the captain of Indian Cricket Team.

Some of the great facts of Indian cricket

Iftar Ali Khan Pataudi was the only cricket player who played Test cricket from both England and India.

Lala Amarnath was the only bowler who hit Wicket Out to great batsman Don Bradman.

Both Jayasinha and Ravi Shastri are the only Indian who played for five full days in Test matches.

Indian spinner Bapu Nadkarni had scored 21 consecutive centuries in a Test match against England.

Sourav Ganguly is the only batsman who scored a century in the World Cup knockout match.
