Hello, friends, steemians, this time I want you to learn how to make a tobacco-based insecticide. Nowadays, farmers find it difficult to find fertilizers and insecticides to control pests and diseases in their crops, and when they do find them, they are too expensive. For this reason, it is important to look for new alternatives that are economical and at the same time do not harm the environment, one of these alternatives are fertilizers and insecticides made with extracts of some plants, such as neem plant, nettle, garlic, etc. . etc. Wormwood and tobacco, among many other plants. But this time I'm just going to talk about how to make the tobacco fertilizer and the insecticide.

Fertilizer, insecticide and fungicide of tobacco leaves:

Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum): We all know that tobacco has harmful effects on health in people who smoke or chew it, a large percentage of these consumers end up suffering from diseases such as lung cancer, cancer, the mouth, Throat, esophagus, stomach and larynx. But although tobacco is better known for its negative effects, this plant has many medicinal properties used by indigenous cultures for the treatment of many diseases, so that tobacco also has beneficial properties that we can take advantage of.

Previously, tobacco was used to eliminate lice, mites; They also used it as an anti-inflammatory in cases of bruising and as an antiseptic to treat wound infections in people and animals. Nowadays, the toxic components of tobacco have been used to control diseases and pests in agriculture and livestock, because tobacco contains a substance called nicotine that is used in the preparation of insecticides, fungicides and fertilizers, and is also 100% organic. It has been shown that nicotine serves as a repellent of insects and bacteria, which can help protect our crops.

Elaboration of tobacco fertilizers and insecticides.

With tobacco leaves we can prepare insecticides and fertilizers to control pests in our gardens. Currently there are many companies that are dedicated to the preparation of phytosanitary products, based on tobacco, in the market we can buy agricultural products based on tobacco in different presentations, in powder and liquid, to be applied in crops.

The tobacco is considered as an excellent organic fertilizer and 100% natural repellent against pests, which acts as an insecticide, acaricide and fungicide, its active principle is nicotine that causes a toxic effect on insects, eliminating them by contact.

How to prepare fertilizers and insecticides with tobacco leaves?

The substance that we have to extract from tobacco is nicotine, this substance is present in the leaves. To prepare these fertilizers, acaricides, insecticides and fungicides, it is necessary to perform a short and simple procedure with its leaves as follows:

  • The first thing you should do is crush several sheets of dried tobacco and place them in a container with hot water to speed up the process, it is advisable to use 6 sheets per liter of water. Then we leave this mixture for two or three days, so that all the nicotine comes out at that moment and we can see the water dyed brown.

Preventive measures in the development of tobacco fertilizer and insecticide

As we have pointed out, tobacco contains many toxic substances, including nicotine, which is why we must protect ourselves before having contact with this material. For this reason, it is important to use safety equipment such as: gloves, eyeglasses, panties and masks, especially when fumigating, as we can get intoxicated by inhaling these substances.

On the other hand, it is important to take into account that after a fumigation with tobacco fertilizers, we have to wait a minimum of 3 to 4 days for the nicotine to disappear, to be able to reap the fruits.
