Music Monday: Satan, Say You'll be Mine & Nothing but the Whole Wide World FEEL FREE TO DROP YOUR OWN TUNE FOR UPVOTES!!

in #steempress5 years ago (edited)

I have missed the last two Music Mondays, guiltily avoiding the hashtag in shame and ignoring @perceptualflaws and @likedeeler, my homies in musical posts (sorry lovelies, I'll come visit you today I promise!). As unbelievable as it might sound, some weeks are decidedly not musical. Nothing appealed to me and I was just enjoying silence, I guess, as the world seemed super noisy by contrast.

However, this weekend was full of tunes, starting on Friday night seeing Orbital in Melbourne at my favourite venue, 'The Forum'. Here's me and my boy enjoying the light show. Ya gotta love lazers. I also gotta love my boy, for being the youngest person there by far amongst a whole heap of old ravers. Classic. He'll go to any gig if I pay - like his mother, he has an eclectic taste in music. Anyway, this is the song I danced the most too. Good to have a dance - I haven't for age, and the wildness of closing ones eyes and moving to music is just soul pumping. Loved their light show and very British visual projections.

On Saturday it was 39 degrees on the Coast, which meant a morning on the beach and then the afternoon hiding from the sun. Went round my folks and Dad did his usual and broke out Youtube on his telly (which is hooked up to an amazing stereo). He's just discovered Kitty, Daisie and Lewis, and it was this song he liked the best. I think it's because the drummer struggles to keep her breasts in her dress. Mesmerizing performance - and the music is fun too. You can't help but move ya thing to this one.

Third choice this week is Jakob Dylan. I think this song is really beautiful. I've never really listened to him as I thought his early stuff was a bit overproduced and lacked lustre. However Dad played me a few tracks that changed my mind. Perhaps he's grown into himself. He does sing better than his father. I've had this song on repeat a bit as it's quite lovely.

# What have you been listening to this week? Comment below, or create your own Music Monday post - let's fill Steemit with tunes.

Love the song! I had a much different notion for the song I was going to share until I heard what you posted. Got that 90’s all over it!
Wonder if you’ve heard of this gem, one of my favorite songs brings me back to my early teens.

DJ Shadow - Organ Donor

This is a cracking song. That album is absolutely Sublime. I still think it is one of the best albums ever made. I shared a DJ Shadow song the other day but from a newer album. So good. Thanks for this reminder I haven't heard heard it in ages. I don't like to think that I lived in the 90s as I have always listen to new music but I do like to return to them for gems like this that will always have a place in my heart xx thanks for sharing my friend

Thanks! I need to sit back and just let Pandora bring me his music and others like it. I’ve fallen into a hole with it lately; I found one song that’s perhaps one of my favorite EDM songs but it’s only on Pandora! And it’s not available for replays. No YouTube, drives me nuts lol so I’m trying to get it to play and it’s taunting me by not playing. See if you can get it!
Goyopod - Ashra (Eugene Steele’s Red Road Remix)
Epic song! Once I get it, I’m gonna go with Shadow.

wow, orbital took me way back to when I 16 and sneaking out to raves and dance clubs (while staying in England). We had nothing like that in small-town Canada and it was quite impactful.

oooh, Kitty, Daisie and Lewis & Jakob Dylan - lovely collection. Just the sort of tone I've been falling into lately. I enjoyed listening. I'm going to check out more of their work.

So glad you got out and enjoyed yourself - another thing we have in common, eclectic music and sharing it with our boys.

Here's a bit of Canadiana for you “Inuindie,” (Inuit Indie) this is Beatrice Deer singing "My All To You"

The drumbeat makes my heart pound faster and the videography is really nice.

Wow this is really beautiful! It's so interesting to see an Inuit indie song.. inuitindie song! Her clothes!! That could be you in your snow and woods my dear. I think I'll listen to this a few times today!!

Ha, no one I have spoken to of late have heard of Orbital. They just look at me blankly. They were so awesome to see and it was great to slip into that dance mode.

Kitty Daisy and Lewis are FUN.. listen to their version of Going Up The Country! Dad thought he was being clever when he showed me ie found a new band. Was suprised to hear I knew them. But they had gone a lot of air time on out independent radio station.

Glad u liked the selection this week!!!

In my big dance act synopsis I forgot orbital .. how could I forget Orbital?? Glad to see you putting the record straight with an awesome track from the dance masters themselves!! Sounds like you had an awesome night .. and passing the dance baton to your son, respect!! :) Never heard of Kitty, Daisy and Lewis before .. but this was awesome!! Great music and yeah I can see what you mean about the drummer lol Haven't heard much of Jakob Dylan before .. but this song is both thought provoking and beautiful, thank you for sharing. Here is my choice for this week .. I'm going to stay on the dance tip and post a track from my days as a child of the strobe .. I hope you enjoy:
